I'm thinking we should keep the same formation and have WillJ hound Lodeiro all game. Seattle is much much better defensively than any team we've faced in a long time. No matter who wins it'll be close
There were some games mid season where you wondered if there would be complete capitulation but they have bounced back and made it to the final. It's a terrific team, formation seems to be working. They are playing a team in the final that was left for dead, miles out of a playoff spot at one point...never give up. I would love to attend but will need a minor miracle.
Tbf, before his last injury he was a waste of money. The stats don't lie so it's hard to blame the fans for their frustration. His turnaround has been quite awesome.
I'll raise my hand (partly...because i never called for his firing but was very critical of his hiring...my quote was "we will finally find coaching stability at the wrong time with the wrong guy").....he has grown imensely, he has developed in the job at a pace that is quite remarkable and deserves all the accolades he is getting. It would be far too easy for those of us who weren't fans to say he is where he is because he has an MLS club with talent and depth...but he is a big part of the success and his tactical and man management flexibility is apparent. He has proven many of us wrong....and that is a good thing. Stats can lie....before his last injury he was playing very, very, well but not scoring.....he was making room for a lot of other stuff to happen and his hold up play was top drawer. Isolating the measurement of his performance to "stats" (presumably goals) is a shocking underestimation of the complexity of the game and his position in it.
I'll also add that last year people were complaining that he only scored 13 goals. Thing is, he was the team's SECOND scorer. 13 goals from a second scorer is still a good season, particularly when you account for the fact that he missed some of it due to injury. And as TOareFan pointed out, even when he doesn't score, he still draws a lot of attention and opens the door for others to score. if you are only measuring by number of goals then you are missing the whole story of what he brings.
