Belize players denied, runner attempted to buy silence by dropping envelope full of 50's and 100's before rabbiting...

Guess the match fixers thought they were an easy mark, small nation desperate for cash (they're still taking donations to cover their Gold Cup expenses) and possibly amenable to "hey, you're going to lose anyway, why not let in a couple extra goals for some dosh"..

Great job by the players to turn down this money and preserve the integrity of the game. If only Italian PMs had 1/10th of their integrity.

BTW, the players names are Woodrow West and Ian Gaynair. CONCACAF has released a statement saying they have ID's the person who attempted the bribe.

If you are in the neighborhood for any of these Gold Cup venues, go to a match and give both Belize and Woodrow and Ian some love for doing the right thing. They are living, breathing, anti A-Rods and Ryan Bruans. Anti Jim Tressels. Anti Joe Paternos.

    Here's the statement by CONCACAF:

these players have demonstrated what football is all about which is the love of the game....Most these players are semi-professional and could have easily accepted the bribe but luckily they have put to shame to all those players and people who didn't have the strength or courage to say no.

CONCACAF is just mad that they tried to bribe players instead of the COCACAF bigwigs.
