This team lacks a few players and they are known . Not sure why Radhi didn't try out Brwa this game ...
Ahmed Yasin was booked a few mins before. I can understand that decision. We missed many key players like Justin and Husni. Ali Adnan on the wings just doesn't work.. I'm happy with the win though. Let's look forward now to UAE!
Just shows how bad Yahya Alwan was that we couldn't beat Thailand nor Vietnam and only just scraped by Taiwan lol. That was a dark period in our national team for sure.
For UAE we need Yaser, Meram, Osamah and Husni back in the team . Radhi sort your shit out get the best players together.
Actually no, Younis wouldn't have buried that and it was a great shot by Alaa. You guys just remember the best of Younis but when he played against Vietnam and Thailand he struggled to score goals. The prime Younis may have buried that through a feint but the old current Younis wouldn't have come close to scoring that. Really bad performance despite the win. The only one who played well was Muhannad due to his positioning. Best striker performance we've had in years. Ahmed Yasin played pretty badly today which I hope doesn't ruin his confidence as he was outstanding versus Japan/Australia. Mahawi should have started if fit, Waleed is not that good. Another thing is that our lads feel really aggressive these days. It's like if Radhi has been forcing them to watch Atletico and Simeone. I don't like that and want them to keep their cool more often. We need calm people who can read the game, not the overly emotional aggresive who can get red carded.
We were winning 2-0 with Yahya too , if Thailand didn't get a red card and another player injured so they were down to 9 players, they were very close to scoring before that happened and dominated us before the send off , Thanks to Radhis 2nd half tactics and subs though.
Must have been watching a different game. Iraq won 4-0 against a nation Yahya Alwan could not beat with Noor Sabri, Ali Rhema, Salam Shaker and Younes Mahmoud Thailand were barely in this game 4-0, that red card did little to change the outcome Iraq only need to play the game out,
Agree with you and add that Alaa and Younes play very different positions Alaa is a like an attacking midfielder bnot a striker
A great shot that went straight at the keeper. Younis never lost his finishing ability with age. Look at the goal he scored against Thailand when we drew with them 2-2 away. He lost his pace, but something like finishing ability doesn't go away.
We could have topped that group wth Radhi, draws with Thailand and Vietnam and today they beat Thailand, same team and players and coach 4-0.
Ali Adnan works on the wing, we saw that in the last round of qualifiers. He's just been sloppy for a while now. He gets in dangerous positions and creates very dangerous attacks, just the last touch is missing.
It's one game. Radhi is the same guy who managed to lose to KSA and played disgraceful football against australia. This is his first win since coming back as a coach and he's had about 10 games now. Lets see how he progresses before calling him a great coach.
not a winger, he can cross a ball but is slow as the rotating earth, Iraq need faster winger like Ahmed Yasin on the right
who said a great coach? but this is the best result for a long time, much better than what we saw under Yahya Alwan, Akram or Hakeem Shakir Mistakes cost Iraq against KSA not the coach cant blame coach for defenders not knowing how to clear a ball or tackle
Let's hope UAE draw to Saudi, thus leaving us to beat them and hopefully get a draw with Australia. If anything, Iraq is capable of beating Australia.
Habibi don't let the score blind you out , Thailand were pushing to score while we defended they looked like the team to score next. I dunno how you could be proud of scoring on Thailand with 9 players lol
We should of been 4-0 in the first half anyway. I don't know why he touched the ball when it was just basically in the goal, and I don't know why he missed the open goal. Two goals there, 4-0.
So Thailand were better today? a big difference between todays game and the two games iraq played under Yahya Alwan in the earlier group.
Revising history and saying we'd have topped the group last time playing great is not right after just one game. vs KSA we played poorly. Sure there was some bad refereeing, but he set the team up to defend immediately after our goal and that is a terrible call. He's responsible for the players he calls up if they make bad mistakes. Tactically, he got it completely wrong vs Australia and against KSA. Today was a big win, but there were still clear problems. We were never comfortable until we scored our 2nd goal. If Thailand had managed to get an equalizer after our first, we'd be talking about a different game right now. We saw some good signs from the Japan game and today we had a mixed bag, but overall I'm satisfied. Lets see how the UAE game goes, because that game will be a big test.
To be fair, every team missed chances. We got the win with a big margin which is what we needed. The real problem was how shaky we looked after our first goal. We need to be able to dominate teams like this and be strong over the entire 90 minutes. Before this game we had huge trouble scoring. We should be happy that Muhannad is emerging as a source for goals. We have to take it step by step.
No we were better, just 2nd half Thailand came out to score while we defended , if they scored and kept 11 on the field would of been a interesting game to see Radhi react to it .
