Will they use hydration breaks with the 90+ degree temperatures?

Just heard that as well. Sounds like Rocchi is trying to be somewhat sympathetic to the players when appropriate. I think FIFA should implement a formal break, but that’s just me.

At least the entire field is in shade. That helps quite a bit.

Just watch for the "injuries" as the game progresses . . .

It depends on the WBGT, if they are using it in Russia. Combination of temp and humidity, measured with a
hand-held device. Usually if it is over about 84 deg F.

If they are using WBGT, I doubt it's high enough because the field is in shade.

John Strong has some really impressive LOTG knowledge. Holden and him have made a really strong #1 commentary team. By far the best part of Fox's coverage.

I think Strong is terrific and have thought that since watching him do Timbers games on MLS Live. Great knowledge of the game and has a knack for reacting well to big moments.

Good YC. Was just thinking that there were a lot of fouls but not many worth a YC. That clearly was.

Willian blatantly dives, Rocchi plays on, then warns him at the next stoppage. This is one of the more annoying recurring referee things during this tournament.

It's not a tournament thing. Refs never book players for diving 45 yards from goal.

Couple of cards hopefully will help this choppy game.

Overall, very good half for Rocchi. The temperature (literally and figuratively) will increase in the second half. I look to see more diving in the last 45 as one goal may very well win this game.

Probably so, but are FIFA even using it? I think they did in Brazil in 2014?

It's happened at least three times in the box as well.

Oh good, a Machnik cutaway. Someone must have woken him up at halftime.
