Captain Marvel has passed $900 million world wide, there's a good chance it could pass the billion mark. That's pretty good for a movie that was going to "bomb".
I figure it'll snicker close to 1.1 billion Insanely good for a C-list character. It's international numbers are solid, but how do they compare to other MCU films? Is there a high support of women/families going to see it?
I am so excited for infinity wars 2nd part. The theories say that captain America is going to die. I don't want him to go. What do you think?
Wtf is this? pic.twitter.com/uuIwiIE6GB— The Playlist (@ThePlaylistNews) March 27, 2019 LOL! This is a movie that has made 938 million dollars and counting worldwide.
If Chris Evans can't be convinced to keep going, then story-wise it makes the most sense (unless they plan to go with the recasting route). It's hard to believe that Steve Rogers would just "retire" and not help out during the next crisis, so it's easier if he's dead. It makes more sense for Tony Stark to walk away from the front lines. He can still make the tech everyone uses, just retire as Iron Man. Plus, it's much easier for Robert Downy Jr. to do a cameo appearance, unlike Evans who'd have to bulk up to play the part again.
He'e linking to the Cosmicbook site, a well known ComicsGate/Alt-Right site. Those guys are dipshits.
It's officially passed 1 billion, what a flop In celebration of Marvel Studios' #CaptainMarvel soaring past the $1 billion mark at the global box office, here's your look at this new poster by artist @TracieChing. #HigherFurtherFaster pic.twitter.com/8GGcXmyPLH— Captain Marvel (@captainmarvel) April 3, 2019
Only six Marvel movies have ever made more money worldwide and I think Captain Marvel still has a shot to overtake one of them.
What I do wonder is how might sequels for CM and BP do at the box office. Will they top the first films or settle around the billion mark? Still, incredible achievements considering even Thor Ragnarok only make $850 million and that was a huge success compared to the first 2.
One movie it is definitely going to overtake (though obviously not adjusted for inflation) is "The Dark Knight".
So the Marvel movies to make more than "Captain Marvel" are: Captain America: Civil War Iron Man 3 Black Panther Avengers: Age of Ultron Marvel's The Avengers Avengers: Infinity War Three of those are the ensemble Avengers films. A fourth is arguably an Avengers-lite movie in terms of the amount of characters that are in the film (Captain America: Civil War).
Hopefully the success of so many recent female-led action and thriller films leads us to see less and less "damsel in distress" films.
The #CaptainMarvel boycott really worked. The movie is:- $11 million away from $1.1 billion- $400M domestic, $12 million away from Wonder Woman- 25th highest grossing movie of all time- 7th highest grossing Marvel movie- 2019's highest grossing film, domestic & ww pic.twitter.com/h857ksofFM— The Playlist (@ThePlaylistNews) April 21, 2019
I've read of many theaters staying open 24 hours straight for the first weekend. They're also estimating that the movie had already made $120 million in pre-sales domestically.
10am Saturday for me, just checked to see how packed it will be for that showing, out of 150 seats, only 22 are left.
You guys think it'll reach 300 million (this weekend)? I think I had read (recently) estimates pegged it around $270/280 million and (globally) around 900 million this weekend.
