don't get me wrong I love the result but I think Bootle Boys would have won against Maribor tonight. hopefully though we'll get some confidence and regain composure in front of net.
I think Milner is okay as a back-up but he's simply not as quick mind-to-body-to-execution of movement as any of the others so he would consequently inhibit us against very good midfields when we try to dominate. He's better when playing wider outfield where he only has to worry about clsoing down from one direction..... (and we all know that Harry Styles can't close down for shyte...!)
apparently that was more a result froma bunch of errors than a great Moscow performance. So, luck really did smile on us tonight ..... maybe it'll last a bit now to match our effort.... let's do Spuds on Sunday for starters.....

Passing was crisper, quicker and, more importantly, was mostly forward. Certainly made a case for himself to play in the middle.
This seems to be true. The two xG models I looked at had the match as 1.39 to 1.14 and 1.3 to 0.8 in Spartak's favour, which indicates that they only deserved a narrow win and the scoreline was very flattering indeed.
A badly needed goal explosion against a pants opponent, hopefully this will raise our attackers' confidence and the goals will begin to flow more. Gotta say, as a former resident of the Pacific Northwest if I was served some salmon the color of those kits I wouldn't eat it.
at the risk of being repetitive --- don't ignore the fact that Maribor were totally out of their depth, esp in midfield. Milner Can and Wij were untouched all night, that will never happen vs any team in the PL.
