Ah. I remember the days when the 12 year olds on the USA forums were all a-twitter about Marc Heider-------essentially blasting Bradley for not calling up a kid at Werder Bremen. Good memories.

A couple of years ago he was very good when, by an odd turn of events, Bremen II had to play Bremen I in the German Cup.

He led the team in scoring and was second overall in the Regionalliga Nord with 18 goals in 30 appearances last season. His contract apparently only runs through June 30, thus he may be on the move soon.

He has already signed a new contract with Kiel (until 2014) some weeks ago.

Heider went 90 minutes in midweek as Holsten Kiel knocked 2. Bundesliga side MSV Duisburg out of the cup 2-0.

Heider has 5 goals in 9 games (8 starts) in the Regionalliga Nord which Holstein Kiel currently lead by 4 points although they have played one more game then their nearest competitors.

Kiel, a former home to a former YA and Big Soccer member Ryan Coiner, is now in Regional Liga Nord, 4th division of the German soccer.

Marc spent two seasons in Bundesliga III (3rd level, with Bremen II and Kiel, when it was up), where in 38 matches, he scored 3 goals.

He has been far more successful on the 4th tier RL Nord, where he has 54 goals in 157 matches with the same two teams, spread over 8 seasons.

This includes three vstly different divisions however, the current RL Nord, the RL Nord from 2008 until 2012, and the 3rd tier RL Nord (where he also played for Osnabrück).

Apparently his nickname is "Heidi" according to the caption in the picture

    http://www.holstein-kiel.de/newsbeitrag/items/hsv-ii-16160.html
His quote: "three different times today I was in the right place, and I also made the goals. That's great, but I also profited from the amazing play of whole team. It can continue in this manner."

Heidi extended his goal-scoring streak to 4 games against SC Victoria Hamburg on 11/23, though the assist streak ended at 3 games. He was shut out the following round (12/1) vs. ETSV Weiche, for whom fellow YA Masami Okada started & put in 80 minutes at RB. Holsten Kiel still won, though, extending its undefeated streak to 11 games. The club is tied for 1st and the only promotion spot in Regionalliga Nord.
