23 years passed, and the world still is talking about Maradona hand. Everytime someone, other than the keeper,

uses his hand in soccer, Maradona famous goal comes into the memories and headlines.

What most people don't know, that that famou goal was not the first for Maradona by his hand, nor the second. It

was the third, but the first to be allowed by the referee. Yet, it was not the last incident.

    - The first one was while he was playing with Boca Juniors, and in a famous derby against River Plate in 1981.

The referee disallowed the goal. Later on, Maradona scored this famoust goal in that derby.

    - The second time, was with Napoli in 1985 in the Italian league. The goal was disallowed..

    - The third one was the famous 1986 quarter final

    - The fourth incident was against USSR in 1990 WC first round. It was the second game and Argentina lost to

Cameroon. Later they tied with Romania. It was the only victory in the first round. It was 0-0 when Maradona

saved a goal by his hand.

If that's part of his game, that's how it goes. Ultimately it's up to the officials decision, and if Fifa avoid replay videos we'll continue to have more of it.

    Henry anyone?

There is a psychological reasoning why the talented use their hand.

Their brain is accostummed to use skill to deceive the opponent. The popular "gambeta" which is to dribble by, means that it makes the opponent believe he is going to do something and then do something else.

Is in this context that the game is played differently from its root. It differs greatly from the English or German game for example, so used to the direct and physical approach. For those players, dribbiling is something they avoid. If there is a chance to fake a pk, they won't. If they have a chance to take advantage of a situation by using their hand, they won't. Their brain doesn't react to the stimulus.

Very different is the South American game. Everything is about taking advantage ... deceving. Let it be the place to take a free kick, to pushing and pulling in the box, to dribbling and dribbling and dribbling. They are accostummed to "legally cheat". And when the chance to "illegally cheat" ponders, they react to the situation and take full advantage. As Henry said, "I'm not the ref".

Skill vs wooden players. There is a difference in nature, since the early ages of kicking around their first ball.

Don't hate the playa ... hate the game.

If i recall correctly playing for Napoli he scored a handball goal against Sampdoria which wasn't disallowed, no idea of the year however.

I think using your hand is much smaller disgrace than diving in the penalty area... and that happens every day. Using your hand can be a reflex or just an impulsive move... but diving is plain dishonest and unsportsmanlike.

Jurgen Klins"man" was the worst possible diver. Thank God the justice was served when Bulgaria won them in 1994.

Here's the Soviet Union match (and the handball) that the initial post talked about.

4 times??? That's it? Heck most players like Owen, C. Ronaldo, ( just to name two ), cheat many more times in many differing ways. Now ask yourself how many times was Diego fouled hard, illegaly stopped, treated badly and the ref let it go until he was injured badly, hmmmmm?

Exactly. For starters, Maradona was hacked illegally by Claudio Gentile, with intention to hurt, many more times in just one World Cup match than the number of times he illegally used his hands in his whole career.

What's the big deal, all men use the same hand more than once in their life. ;)
