My recommendation is to find lodging in downtown Salt Lake City and take the light rail to and from the stadium. There are quite a few good restaurants and bars there. Plus, it's just a nice city to walk around in. Another option is to stay up in the mountains at Snowbird, Alta, Brighton or Solitude. If you opt for that, find out about transportation options to the stadium. As the match date draws closer there will be information here about tailgates.
We are already booked at the Crystal inn hotel, cheap enough looked clean and tidy, We are on a 5 city tour, had to keep the cost down. Is the LRT in that area? Thanks for the info.
They have Crystal Inn at a few locations, which Crystal Inn are you staying at? Edit: Eh... just realized that question can be a little weird. You don't have to announce it to the world where you're staying. My bad.
There is LRT close to where you're staying. You can mock plan the trip here: http://www.rideuta.com/Rider-Tools/Trip-Planner It won't let me just give you the link to the search I did. Thank you Ziggy, most helpful. I couldn't help noticing your Zico image,I was lucky enough to attend the most excellent quarter final in 1986 France v Brasil. I think Zico missed a penner that day,it happens to the best of us.
You're very welcome. Oh wow! You are a very lucky man, you saw not only him but the rest of the squad was also ridiculous, not to mention the great Tele Santana himself. And then the French with Platini, Jean Tigana... Very lucky indeed!
yes for a football man,I have been very lucky, check out my signature. Post game, we boarded a plane to Mex city to see the Hand of God game. Insane weekend. I should add I have watched Brasil lift the world cup twice, the only two final games I have attended were 1994 & 2002 . I have always felt the the Brasil fed, should pay my way to the world cup,I might be a lucky mascot.
Green Pig is a decent enough bar nearby. Squatters as well. The Liquor store is nearby, so you could grab some items for pregame Given you're in for a few days, I'd look into taking a bus or something up Parley's Canyon to Park City. You'll get out of the heat (for the most part) and be able to see some cool things up there. Sunday in SLC is ridiculously quiet, so you'll have free run of the city - but most things will be closed. As time gets closer, hit us up on here more. We can get you details on events happening at that time
https://saltlake-mp7static.mlsdigital.net/elfinderimages/Tickets/2017_RSLvMU_PriceMap.pdf That shows the pricing for STH's. Assuming I'm deciphering the email correctly, we'll have two weeks to claim tickets, and I'm guessing they mean grabbing the seats where you currently have season tickets. Afterwards, it says that we'll have another opportunity to purchase additional tickets. It also sounded like these prices are cheaper than what the general public will pay for theirs. How much more the tickets will cost is anyone's guess.
Gracies is a great bar very close to there. Cheapest drinks downtown are a couple of blocks up from that at Cheers to You. Lots of food options around - Squatters and Green Pig are good as far as bar food goes. Takashi is a great sushi restaurant close by.
Do you guys like beer? I like beer. I make beer for a living. I've offered to host visiting fans at the brewery I work for, and will do so for you (but none of you locals! YOU PAY!). Throw me a PM, if interested, to swing by for a few hours during your stay. Some of my coworkers would be happy to spend time with footy fans from across the pond as well. We have some modest sandwiches here, but I wouldn't plan on eating a substantial meal at our establishment.
Thank you all. Tickets are the number 1 issue for us. You have all been great with ideas and suggestions. I will continue to visit here,in the following days.
