Don't worry...not going all Iron 81 and drinking the Kool Aid but definitely in the spirit of honeymoon...thought I'd play nice. Get to know the new guy. Ice Bucket Challenge: Zlatan and Joe talks: (Mansueto interview about 31:45 minute mark) On becoming filthy rich: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...wner-joe-mansueto-dominant-win-over-fc-dallas
Adding to the wish list: I would love to see a player development agreement reached between the Fire and Forward Madison, especially if an USL team of the Fire's own is down the line of Joe's list of priorities.
Oh, we had that chance. Idiot Nelson declined, perhaps at the request of Idiot Andrew. Local interest in Milwaukee wanted a natural rival with madison and the answer was “no thanks”.
This makes you wonder. He loves the name, but... From today's Tribune, front page article "How MLS helped steer Joe Mansueto to become the Chicago Fire owner — and why he ‘loves’ the team’s name" "A key talking point among Fire fans this season is the potential of a rebrand of the club’s name and crest, something the Fire have been exploring through research and fan surveys for some time. Mansueto likes the name. Maybe “like” isn’t strong enough. “I love the name,” he said. “To me the name has pretty deep meaning for Chicagoans that cuts to the core of the identity of this city. The fire is what created this city … after a very tragic event, the city burns down and people chose to rebuild in the face of that adversity. Not only rebuild what they had but rebuild something bigger and better. The Burnham Plan, keeping the lakefront open, to me it’s that spirit of pushing through adversity to build a world-class city, to build something great out of adversity is what the name means.”
Navy? *sigh* I guess just be glad the Fire name is supposedly remaining. Gotta wait two more years for this error to be corrected with new management.
No, I have not and that was exactly my point. I have not seen, nobody outside the most inner circle of the Fire has seen it. I tried doing a bit of digging last night, but could not find anything. No point getting all uptight until we see at least a preview.
I was under the impression that these things take a year to do, so the decision should’ve already been made and jerseys planned for production. Making us wear navy would be a fitting Hauptman send-off. Hoping Mansueto puts an end to the current FO shenanigans.
right, i believe i have read that the kit designs are at least a year process so any decisions would have been made by hauptman. that said, since joe was already a part owner and, in theory, the buyout had been put in motion long ago, you'd think joe would have had some input to it. that survey that got passed around asjing opinions about the crest, colors, etc only came out like a month ago, right? hoping this is not happening. if, for nothing else, there are plenty of navy blue teams out there already. (not that there aren't plenty of red ones, too.) maybe the white top with navy shorts we saw about a month ago was testing the waters. (i did actually like that look, but that doesn't mean, i like the idea of changing from the all red.)
My info is that Adidas was told the design is changing last month and they had to scramble to get the changes in. Joe, unlike Andy, can get shit done. I expect us to be Chicago Fire Football Club come next year, given what he said in the interviews.
footyheadlines had this article last month, not sure if the timing of that article is a good or bad thing: https://www.footyheadlines.com/2019/08/2020-mls-kit-overview-all-about-new-mls.html
They’re probably scrambling to fix whatever TURD Hauptman wanted. FVCKING Hauptman. Hope he was sent off to LA via a catapult while earning a permanent lifetime ban from Chicago city limits.
What I was told before the sale was just that they were only adding a sponsor patch and nothing else. Don’t know if anything changed there.
Thank you. That was the article I was looking for last night. It is extremely unhelpful for us, but looks like will be "scarlet."
