He would be good for Celtic. A more cerebral defender than Boyata is needed. But if not, maybe a low-table Serie A team?
We can all agree that STY did a better job than his predecessor likely would have, but he still needs to go. I don't hate him but he was never ready for this job. Bring in Javad, just like we brought in Guus after he destroyed us in 1998.
That's incredibly harsh (the first part). I watched the press conference and he just said it was a compliment. He didn't get excited.
Yeah someone better would be great, but I think Vahid is a realistic choice. I want to see the team continue to play quickly and directly. Vahid seems like a good choice for that.
It seems like the general tone from the media/the pundits/players is that we didn't achieved our goal of making it to the round of 16. Maybe this might go against STY.
Performance will also be reviewed, and the Germany match alone doesn't cut it for Shin Tae-yong. Colombia, Serbia, Germany are the only three decent performances we've had thus far, or four if you want to count the 4-1 destruction on Japan at the E-1 Football Championships last year, but everything else have been dismal.
Nah they should consider all three WC games. There's two games against him. I think it's kind of unfair for them to consider friendlies when it's just friendlies.
I was referring to the Sweden match not counting as a passable performance, maybe the Mexico match. But, yeah every match will be reviewed.
I think you should go back, do some Fifa ranking calculation, then come back and tell us the result. Thanks.
Why let the team STY built with a lot of effort (through the WC campaign) go to waste? This team can win the Asian Cup.
We have no idea how STY's KNT will be like in terms of form and potential, come Winter 2019. STY hasn't performed that well in international tournaments, imo. Both Rio 2016 and U-20 World Cup 2017 campaigns won't be too kind on Shin's trial. Let him go. Let him leave this job in dignity.
But does he want to leave? Maybe now that he finally got his WC wish. Picking KSW and starting JHS/KMW in the first two games probably costed us the round of 16. But he wasn't stubborn and did make adjustments, even though the adjustments typically came too late and were baffling at times. He deserves some credit for the Germany game - the JSJ sub was actually on point, YSY and HC were good choices and the defensive teamwork looked pretty solid all things considered. However he was not, and still is not, ready for this job. He's a guy who needs at least 5+ years of successful managing before he should have been considered. But that is the unfortunate state of the KFA All in all, he's the best manager we've had since... HJM. Sad, isn't it. Considering that he had a year to fix the absolute train wreck that Stielike left behind, wrapping up qualifications (albeit barely) and beating Germany to get 3 points in the WC puts him above CKR, CKH, HMB, and Stielike. Can you believe that? He's actually the best manager we've had since HJM. How fcking sad is that? Can't wait to see what Korea can do under an experienced and skilled manager. Look at how Iran blossom under Queiroz, a highly experienced manager who knew what Iran needed and could deliver exactly that. But I expect STY will be able to stay if he wants to. Hope he won't though, for his own sake. Go manage some clubs in the K-League. That's where he belongs right now.
