Is the goal to sign U-18 players? If so, immediate Brexit will prohibit this IMO. ManU have huge amounts of money and really don't need to be concerned about the Dutch market in players unless the next Robben/van Persie/Sneijder etc. arrive. All these big clubs want to purchase players who can be dropped into a starting role right away. Sure there will be the occasional Fosu-Mensah who gets bought and makes it but the history of young Dutch players in England is much more about failure than success. I don't think this really poses much of a threat at all; the KVNB is a bigger threat to Dutch football.

They want fillers for the academy. They only care about the 'next rooney' or some other marketable nation. But you need fillers.

So look at the Chelsea academy. They have been a top team in the UEFA youth CL. Where are all the players who started off there? they are on loan all over Europe these days. IIRC, Chelsea have over 30 players out on loan! How many of these are going to make the Chelsea first team? Maybe one or two if that. The point is Chelsea will always go and buy a player of known quantity rather than promote a youth. You mention Rooney, but he was Everton trained and bought when he was established. So this scout is moving to ManU. How many of their first team came up through the ManU youth system? Rashford for sure comes to mind and in looking at the current first team English born players he is the ONLY one who came from the youth. Fosu-Mensah is more of an Ajax product and every other player on the roster was developed elsewhere an bought by ManU. Not a very good track record for the ManU academy!!!

Only if you consider Fosu-Mensah a ManU product. According to his Wikipedia page, Pogba was at ManU two years having spend ten years as a youth in France. Maybe he is 1/2 a ManU product.

  8. I think supportrs should have mug shots of these types and harras them to the hilt whenever they come close to a youth match.

  9. Just a reminder:

Of zoals Liverpool legende Alan Hansen het ooit formuleerde:`You can’t win anything with kids.”

  12. The (not so godd) Google translation (when I've time I will tweak it)
Published on December 10, 2014 | By Editorial | Eredivisieleeftijd_headerTwo weeks ago, Ajax A1 'Champions league youth' Dutch fries from Paris St Germain. Striking factoid because the outcome of this mutual confrontation contrasts with the performance of Ajax seniors a day earlier. There are theoretical reasons that may explain the apparent contradiction?A primary cause lies partly in earnings (and the related profit maximization) of the clubs. Within the professional football club is an economically just a business. A component in the earnings of such companies is good football players to contract as possible so young and cheap and developing. So Ajax, followed by Partisan Belgrade and FC Barcelona are still the most productive training in Europe (Poli Besson, 2014).Not that we buy a lot of lemons in the Netherlands, for commercial domestic market is relatively small and talents can indeed play there where their market value is greatest. The financially wealthy leagues embrace this overcooked steamed talents whatsoever hug` with a firm `sugar daddy. From this observation, it is interesting to look at the possible age differences between the Premier League and a foreign league with great economic value. It was decided in this study to the English Premier League.Central research question in this article is: 'To what extent is there a difference between the Premier League and the Premier League regarding age, playing time and players position? "research unitsIn this comparative study, 822 investigated footballers. Of these, 822 players came 410 out of the league and 412 in the Premier League. The age of the fielders is measured in whole years. A side note in the measurement in all years is that there is information lost in months. Outside of the age is the number of playing time (number of minutes they have been on the field) taken from the first 12 games. Players less than 100 minutes of playing time over 12 games it are removed from the analysis. As a factor is position of the player captured in the field in the investigation.
    Analysis
The graph below shows the frequency distribution of the Premier League and that shown in the Premier League.
It is obvious that the skewed age frequency of major league players leans more to the left compared to the Premier League. This division is reflected also in an average age of 23.65, where the age in the Premier League a little three (!) Years (M = 26.59, STD = 3.9) higher.leeftijd1An interesting question is whether there is a difference between the two leagues on the variable age and the number of playing minutes. Age is here brought back to three clear age groups, namely 17-22 years, 23-26 and 27 and older. In the chart below we can see that there occurs a marked increase in both competitions in playing time from age 17- 22 to the age group 23-26 years. Both in the league and in the Premier League will find a drop place after 26 years.
leeftijd2The last research question relates to the positions (attack, midfield and defense) of the players in relation to the number of playing minutes. To what extent there is a difference in playing time as we check the graph above on position players? The trend line in the Premier League moves for midfielders in a non-linear fashion. Players in midfield peak playing time as around their 23-26 years. After 26 years there is in this old leather foxes sales volumes dropped significantly. Graph 4 also shows that the very young EPL midfielders at the start of their careers have little playing time. This slow start is as age progresses somewhat compensated. Within the Premier League, we clearly see an interaction effect (intersection of the lines) between midfielders and forwards.
    Age3leeftijd4
    Conclusion
The league has in comparison to the premier league a significantly lower age. This corresponds to the theoretical assumption that Dutch soil provides more space for development of players. A simmering stew pan compared to the UK financial pressure cooker in which managers under pressure especially English talent cut off. That the English national team for years as a turd soccer, in my opinion be partly a 'pay off' of this policy. Young players get proper training in the Dutch league more room for self-development, but by the departure of this talent to other countries, the Dutch clubs have difficulty connecting with the major destination within the UEFA competitions. Or as Liverpool legend Alan Hansen once put it: `You can not win anything with kids".Rate this article ..

  13. Just a reminder from Scotland:

    http://www.football365.com/news/burke-i-rejected-england-for-scottish-goosebumps

"The winger reportedly turned down interest from Premier League sides to make the move to Germany and Burke admits that playing time was a key factor behind his decision.

“You only can only look at your Chelseas and see the amount of talent they have but they’re all out on loan and not getting used,” Burke continued.

“You don’t feel wanted by a club when you sign for them for however much and all of a sudden you’re there for two training sessions and they’ve just bought someone for double the amount. You’re thinking: ‘Why would they play me when they’ve just bought this guy that plays in my position, is more experienced, and has a higher profile?’ For me, it was a no-brainer really.”

Manchester City have joined Liverpool in being banned from signing academy players for tapping-up two schoolboys – including one aged just 11.

City were given the same length suspension as the Anfield club, a two-year transfer embargo on players registered with a rival Premier League or EFL side in the preceding 18 months, with the second year’s ban suspended for three years.

They were also fined £300,000, £200,000 more than Liverpool, who were last month found guilty of tapping up one schoolboy footballer and offering inducements to him and his family.

"This is a very important moment"

Sidibe speaks on the club website of a very important moment: "I am very proud. I hope to play in this beautiful stadium as fast as possible in PSV 1 and celebrate a lot of success with PSV fans, "said Sidibe, who regularly participated this season with the 19's under-19 Eindhovenaren.

"I'm grateful to the people who helped me achieve this. From my trainers, parents, friends and family to my school. I will do everything possible to make people happy in the future. That's my goal, "decided Sidibe. The Eindhovens Dagblad already announced Thursday morning that an agreement was reached on the main lines and now the signatures are also actually put in place.

  16. Is Raiola changing strategy for post-brexit?
Apparently, Raiola was in Dortmund today to talk about a (potential) transfer of Dutch U-16 international midfielder Manuel Pherai from AZ to Dortmund.

  17. I read an article in this weeks Voetbal International about the Apeldoorn based FSG Academy. https://fsgacademy.com/
Part of it is the Full Force Sports Academy (FFSA).
It's a combination of a sports education with regular school.
The intriguing part of it is the claim the FIFA approved the set up and thus makes it possible for kids even in primary school age to join.
The daily schedule is a bit Spartan tbh. Day starts at 6:30 with a breakfast till 7:00. Than till 9:00 sports activity and then school. After dinner kids apparently then join the training session of their club.
Dutch clubs, according to the article, have shown interest in joining.

Actually, one of those you "slapped" posts from Vancouver, Canada, which means he is not a Yank.

Your idea has merit, but as a "Yank" I would prefer that we bring some Dutch coaches over to the USA instead of sending our youngsters over. Not all players worthy of development will be phenoms at 11 or 12. MLS squads have their own academies and are probably better protected from poaching by the league's single unit structure. Plus, I am more interested in developing players for USA leagues (MLS, NASL, USL) which are getting better.

  19. Actually Feyenoord is going a step further with the Saint Louis Scott Callagher (SLSG) cooperation. Search my posts about that.

I'm blanking on the name right now but Feyenoord had a US defender for a couple of years (over 10 years ago I believe) but I think he suffered a serious knee injury.

I read about this collaboration a couple of years ago. If St. Louis were to get an MLS franchise, it would be nice if this 'cooperation' (academy) were tied in with the MLS club. I know that the Dutch training is highly regarded as are the Feyenoord and Ajax academies, but why the weak national team now? And where do the Miguel Almirons come from? Are there any up-and-coming Dutch attacking midfielders like we find in South America?

It is interesting how some areas produce good defenders and others produce attacking mids. I suspect that Cruyff's formative years were spent more like a South American than a current Dutchman. IMHO, too much coaching can remove the creativity that free play develops.
