    Duels...that's what Bild says:

"Selke bestreitet mit die meisten Zweikämpfe (32/Spiel), wovon er für einen Stürmer starke 43 Prozent gewinnt."

looks like TM, updated their stats to have him at 8 assists too, they used to have him lower than that.

I think we should call him up anyways, one thing he's got that Stindl, Petersen, Volland, Uth is that he's never been called up to the senior NT. Other options like Ginczek and Niederlechner (doubt he's NT caliber) are injury prone. Kruse is blacklisted. The others like Weydandt, J.Eggestein, Waldschmidt etc are too green.

    he also led Germany to
2014 Euro U19 champions, also top scorer
2016 Olympics Silver Medal only losing on PKs
    2017 U21 Euros Champions

time to make the next step, even Kuntz supports his senior NT call up.

Volland also deserves a recall based on form and he combines well with others too.

Selke does provide something different though with his 1.94m tall and being a good header besides being a nuisance to defenders and dragging them. He's also pretty fast for someone his height.

3 goals and 4 assists in all competitions in 2019 so far

While in his last 8 BL matches, he's got 2 goals and 6 assists

Czech national coach Jaroslav Šilhavý recently suggested to "Televize Seznam", Selke could also play for the German neighbor.

"Anything is possible, I talked to Vladida Darida about it, they talked about it at their club and Selke said he probably does not have much of a chance to join the German national team so he could play for us," he said Coach there.

Indeed, the striker could accrue for the Czech Republic as Bild explained. Selke, son of an Ethiopian father, has only the German passport, but could get the right to play because of his Czech mother. The Herthaner also speaks the language already, as a child often spent the holidays there.

However, Berlin manager Michael Preetz is skeptical about the project: "Davie has gone through all the German U-national teams, became European champion with U19 and U21, and I expect Davie to be patient with his international career."

If he doesn’t have a Czech passport now, I think he’s 24. Rather impossible to change eligibility

is it really based on passports? If his mom has it wouldn't that make him eligible for the Czech NT.

Isn't FIFA eligibility based on where you were born, parents besides passports?

"has only the German passport, but could get the right to play because of his Czech mother."

even more reason why we need to permanently cap tie him. This is exactly what I always said about dual striker they would be tempted by other countries once they go post U21, thinking they have no chance with Germany or not wanting to wait until late 20s before playing with us. Keeping players post U21 will; be tough when they have other options.

ain't nothing worse than Selke not being on option anymore, that would just decrease our already small striker pool. Which includes guys like Petersen, Stindl, Kruse (blacklisted) who are already 30+ years old.

than you got emerging Kutucu that doesn't play for Germany and another something like 20ish youth strikers who are with other NT.

I think the odds of Selke representing the Czech Republic at the end is around 30-40% right now. However the quote by the Czech NT coach is a bit concerning. Is it true that Selke said that to Darida? Maybe...we don't know for sure.

But Jogi needs to call Selke ASAP in March.

Interestingly enough, this came up in discussion months ago:

there are plenty of stories where players go for another NT due to club teammates who happen to come from that country. Looks the same here.

at this rate, things won't change all duals that make 1BL and play there, you should expect poaching attempts by default from other federations.

The thought of potentially losing Selke to another federation hurts because in terms of classical CF type striker, I'd consider Selke to be the best one produced in Germany within the last 5-10 years even.

The U19 Euro victory of course brings back important memories. But also if Fuellkrug was healthy, I'd still rate Selke ahead of him. Ginczek gets injured every season we already know.

even without injuries, Selke is better than Ginczek.

if one looks at timeline wise based on age groups Selke is 2nd youngest CF we have after Werner who are established starters in 1BL.

He is not eligible to Czech Republic based on FIFA rules

He played his official youth match over 21 for Germany U21, at that time he didn’t have a Czech passport

This happens in recent years, unless he had a Czech passport by that time.

    Not a topic anymore

if he's never played for Germany senior NT in a competitive game he's still eligible for other countries. Aren't the U21 eligibility rules the old ones from years ago?

.So far, Davie Selke scored his international goals for the German U-national teams. Now Czech Republic's country selection expresses its interest in the Hertha striker - the curious: It would be possible.

Davie Selke plays a strong season with Hertha BSC and has evidently now aroused desires outside of the Bundesliga. However, not, as can be surmised, at club level - the Czech Football Association wants to have the German-born attackers for image information for their national team. Only recently, in the surprising 3-0 success of Hertha BSC in Gladbach, Selke was with a goal and a template guarantor for the away win in third place.

Since Selke's mother is from the Czech Republic, the striker could basically play for the national team. In addition, the 24-year-old speaks the language and loud picture the country by regular visits to relatives. In theory, the striker could also play for Ethiopia, because his father comes from the East African state. At the moment Selke only owns the german passport.

Also the Czech national coach Jaroslav Šilhavý has already expressed his interest in the attacker. "Selke is a really good player. I talked to Darida (midfield player from Hertha BSC, d. He talked to Selke about it, "the picture quotes the 57-year-old. In the German national team Selke played still no game, therefore, it is possible according to the rules of FIFA, that the Berlin striker for the Czech national team announces. Since the U16 he went through all youth national teams of Germany, most recently he came in the U21 for use.

It was a myth and he can’t play for Czech Republic

Same case happened before and I can name some examples later

Based on Fifa rule, he CANT switch because he played for Germany Youth Official match over 21 n at that time he didn’t have Czech Republic passport

U guys can sleep like babies. It’s not an issue

An agent story or something made up by Bild to catch attention.

Why would Czech Republic publicise this to make DFB call him up even earlier? Doesn’t make sense

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_eligibility_rules

In January 2004, a new ruling came into effect that permitted a player to represent one country at youth international level and another at senior international level, provided that the player applied before their 21st birthday.[9]

    - Selke didn’t have a Czech passport before his 21st birthday and he played for Germany youth international match

    - Olmpic Games are also Fifa category A/official tournaments

Have to be careful with sources

    Bild and Sportbuzzer... not quite

Remember there was an ex-editor from Sport Bild admitted that they made up stories in front page just to catch attention

Talked to some specialist who knows the regulations

Confirmed Selke is ineligible to play for Czech Republic

He needs to have Czech Republic passport, before he was 21. He was provisionally capped by Germany already including Olympic, and when he reached 21 n didn’t have a Czech passport, he can’t chabge anymore

out of curiosity, what if his mom owns a Czech passport, doesn't count?
