Haha. It seems like nothing more but selection bias to pick Juve and PSG last season as an indication of Messi's ability to influence games. I mean... Messi was more or less the reason why Real Madrid wasn't the Liga winners until Matchday 38. Barca was (by their standard) terrible, but Messi kept bailing them out literally every single time. Messi was the better player than CR7 throughout 2016-17 season, but Real Madrid was a much better team than Barca. And no, Keylor Navas was MOTM against Tottenham who pulled off incredible saves. Even the likes of Modric, Kroos, Benzema (despite the miss) had a better game than CR7 who was invincible bar that penalty goal. CR7 suffers in La Liga because he is really awful in front of goal despite all the service he gets from his teammates, which can't be blamed on anyone else. Currently, he is the worst RM attacker in La Liga so far. They've lost pretty the vast majority of their occupied land, so now they're trying to stay relevant in the news.
I found it strange for him to say at the ceremony of the best that it is just the start of him winning them awards why does he need to say such things? Was it a way to boost himself to do even better or just a way to not admit to himself that the end is nearer . I mean his numbers are clearly down on what they used to be and like last season he has had a terrible start to the season but we are all hoping that like last year he regains his form but forgetting that the guy is almost 33 years and that even he will one day stop being the cristiano we all know. I hope for our sake he can give us one more season even helping us win the copa del rey would be great after all he has achieved already here but really florentino and zidane missed a trick on not signing mbappe or someone to ease the burden on his shoulders. Hala madrid and then tomorrow he goes and scores 3 against tottenham.
Played actually really well against Las Palmas tonight. Couldn't get a goal tho. That stat is for assists in La Liga.
How many games has he gone without scoring?? It is bizarre to have an attacking front line which doesn't score Hopefully, he starts banging goals, cause pretty soon the media will be all over analysing his imminent decline and all, and soon the dressing room can turn ugly.
Media has already been on his Ass.. Some 48 shots without scoring a goal now. Mixture of bad luck and a frustrated CR
Good to know that a player who is "done", is the champions league leading scorer this season, with an average of 1.5 goal per match.
A big thanks to Portugal for not calling up Cristiano for meaningless friendlies and giving him a much needed rest (physically and mentally). Can't believe he's turning 33 in a few months
Sergio Ramos has branded Cristiano Ronaldo an ‘opportunist’ for suggesting Real Madrid’s current woes are down to the summer sales of Alvaro Morata, James Rodgriguez and Pepe. http://metro.co.uk/2017/11/09/sergi...oes-on-alvaro-morata-sale-to-chelsea-7065739/ And Ramos, on Cristiano not celebrating teammates' goals: "Maybe it's not the best way to do things..." https://t.co/BAOLB27pXF pic.twitter.com/jrpGhsYwe1— AS USA (@English_AS) November 9, 2017
We're not 8 points down on Barca because we sold Morata, James and Pepe. You don't rely on depth to beat Girona and not get humbled by Spurs.
