MLS is atypical in terms of how wide the level of talent is between players on the same clubs. In european squads - where the pyramids are more complex and there are more levels of play - there is a closer correlation to an individual's level vis a vis the team they play on than in MLS where EPL/CL legends might be playing with USL/PDL players on the same team - that really doesnt happen in EU as much, imo. In MLS you have some players who could play UCL/EPL/top 4 leagues and then others who would struggle in a good second division on the same team. So talking about "the level of MLS players" is rather abstract and not nearly as black and white (and poor) as you make it out to be.....
Can't speak for the UK/England, but Lynden, Landon or any variation on those has never been used as a given name in Ireland. That may have changed in the last 20-odd years, given the number of foreigners who have settled in the country, but not before that. Never heard of it in the UK either, but with a population of 60 million there might have been a few cases, or it might have been an obscure regional name in the part of the UK his father comes from. I'd say it's strictly his parents (English Dad, Irish Mum) picking up SoCal-style names for their son
If the premiss of the first poster that I replied to is that the league that Gooch is in is comparable to MLS. My inference is that Gooch is one of the top young players not quite Almiron but in contention for best 11 for that league.
Almiron has been purchased from MLS for something close for $20M, probably more. Gooch might be worth a tenth of that or not. Best 11 of MLS is way stronger than our NT starters, not even close. The proper player for Gooch to compare would be someone like Arriola.
which means MLS is much better than League One then cuz gooch is not League One's version of Arriola in terms of impact.

Not sure if Gooch will appear very much (if at all), but Sunderland is featured on Netflix's latest sports docuseries, Sunderland 'Til I Die. Premiers on Friday: https://www.netflix.com/title/80207046

The moment we've all been waiting for! 👏Duncan Watmore makes his return to league action for the first time in 13 months as he comes on for the final few minutes in replace of @LyndenGooch.#SAFC 2-1 #BRFC pic.twitter.com/v2BZxilUkp— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) December 15, 2018 Sunderland won 2-1.
I finished the Netflix Sunderland series. Gooch never appeared on camera, other than a handful of shots of him in the background.
A little. They get relegated to League One, but the team gets purchased by a new owner. Ends on a hopeful note, for sure.
I watched it also. I thought he hit a shot in the second or third episode that was saved. I wonder if there is a season 2, if there is he has had some dynamite moments in League One (couple game winners etc).
Hard to know how a new owner could do any worse. They had such a mess in the front office that spilled onto the field.
I've watched 4 episodes... most interesting part so far is that Sunderland were considering Hyndman in August 2017 (his name is on a whiteboard of potential loan candidates) and there was a 2 minute segment where Sunderland scouts went to Scunthorpe to look at Duane Holmes but passed.
I thought I read up thread that there will be a season 2. You would think Gooch will be mentioned more this time around.

got to see how they compare to Portsmouth, but it appears Portsmouth are the class of League One this cycle. Currently in third, but two games yet to play. Theyll need to keep it up against a Luton team who seems to be up for a push.
