Named to a Team of the Season (so far): Lynden Gooch named to Sky Sports League One TOTS (so far). 🔥(h/t: @_GeorgeGlass) pic.twitter.com/u90XOBZEtq— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) October 11, 2018
1053694522272727042 is not a valid tweet id Gooch - 9 - man of the match. Set both goals up and terrorised their defence whenever he got the ball. If he’s fit enough he has to start at Doncaster. Being picky, he should’ve played O’Nien in at the end, but he can have his greedy moment when he has that impact.— Wise Men Say Podcast (@WiseMenSayPod) October 20, 2018
IDK. I think Gooch has always been a pretty fast, physical player with a heavy (read, hard/powerful) shot, but without a lot of technical ability or tactical nous. That fits perfectly well in MLS for most teams. Stats aren't necessarily everything. Arriola has torn it up, but that hasn't translated very well to the NT.
Arriola's offensive game had only taken off this MLS season--and before Rooney arrived. His only Nats minutes during that time were 55 minutes against Brazil.

Lovely goal! @GHoneyman10 @LyndenGooch pic.twitter.com/sg6t0OXnjC— Roker Report (@RokerReport) October 27, 2018 Bags another assist today. It's so crazy how much simply winning can change the vibe around a club. Sunderland fans seem to be enjoying life more at a lower division where they can actually win fairly often. Stadium is fuller and fans are more into it. This will make it 5 wins in a row now and they're sitting in 3rd place.
Good for Gooch. This can only help his career and bodes well to him being able to step up a level next season.
Yeah I know there was a lot of people skeptical of him staying at Sunderland down in League One........ Its paying dividends right now. He looks like one of the better players not just on the team, but in the whole division (League One) right now.
Scores in the FA Cup against Port Vale. 🇺🇸🎯 And with just 19 minutes on the clock, @LyndenGooch doubles the Lads' grip on the #EmiratesFACup tie. Excellent hold up from @JSinclair_48 sees him pop the ball off to Gooch, and the American turns before firing past Brown. ⚫️⚪️ 0-2 🔴⚪️ pic.twitter.com/JXCPNhATUJ— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) November 11, 2018
Yes. Leagues One and Two keep playing. Given the very limited number of internationals playing in those two divisions, the disruption affects a small number of clubs which mostly have cover for the players who have to be released if their MNT calls them up. That's the logic anyway. Or maybe that should be "logic": Germany's 3 Liga doesn't play during the break, and that league is on the same level as League One. But this is probably the main reason
Gooch sticking it out with Sunderland thus far has turned out to be a brilliant move. Current trajectory, Sunderland and Portsmouth should be good for automatic promo. Sticking that out a season a league below will be pretty endearing to the fans, especially a squad that is pretty young now that has cut a lot of the fat from last year.

Since then, @Adam2Matthews met Maguire's ball in from the left on the volley but couldn't direct it goalwards. 20 minutes to play... 🔴 2-1 ⚫️🔴 pic.twitter.com/NDLUFpat2j— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) November 24, 2018
