They'd face fines from the league if they did that.

So Sunderland finally go down. They've been fighting relegation since DiCanio was there. Maybe now they can get a fresh start and re-boot.

but why would they get fines? I'm sure the club would have a 50/50 with academy players/regular squad. Not as if they would run out a starting XI of youth players.

I think the last time they were close to mid-table was when Darren Bent was there. 09-10 he went on a goal-scoring run. Kinda amazing they were not relegated along with AV last season.

If they gave Hull a win with a depleted squad, that would have a large impact on the rest of the relegation battle.

Still pointless for Sunderland though. I would have massively rotated the squad anyway.

Great point. I had totally forgot they were still in the fight for relegation.

David Moyes is a shit manager now. He's done everything wrong this season, and didn't spend money in the right positions in the transfer windows.

I wonder if they sack Moyes or if he will stay and try and get them back up

i'd imagine they will keep them. I'm pretty sure no one wants to manage the club at all. So even if Moyes would rather jump ship, they'd compensate him to keep him there.

Though he's only on the bench today against Swansea, apparently he's been noted for his speed this season.

Gooch again doesn't leave the bench as Moyes continues to play players who've shit the bed all season.

Moyes for next USNT manager! He'd be on the ropes in WC qualifying and then play most of those same vets in the b-team GC.

The shining star became a falling one.

It's very weird. It looks like he was possibly holding Everton back rather than making them overachieve. It was Everton making him look good rather than the other way around.

Have a feeling they'll go Leeds' way.

The English have always considered Moyes a crap manager. We like him here 'cause he gave LD a shot.

good way for him to end the year, a taste of 1st team. 55 minute mark, 0-0, still on the bench. would love to get him a few minutes.

Yea, his reputation was so poor at Everton that Manchester United hired him to a huge contract.

Perhaps you need to add another monitor to the basement.

Sir Alex picked Moyes. Yes, I'm aware he is Scottish, but I think the most respected coach in England of his generation would not make pick a coach that no-one in England respects.

Maybe the Championship will be the boost to Gooch that Newcastle's relegation was to Yedlin. He'll def need to perform like Hell if he wants to go to Russia.

Naw Sunderland and Newcastle are two very very different situations. Sunderland is like Aston Villa. They've been lucky to avoid relegation the last few years and won't make it back up for some time. Newcastle had a really bad year but their a big club with ambition it was widely believed they'd be right back up.
