"Jumped up for a header and just landed funny as ********. Coukd stand and such but in pain. Then just had to be stretched out. Could be ankle/knee ligaments."

Sounds like a hyperextended knee. No fun but not "serious" in the career sense. Out 4-6 weeks?

Cameron has been out 4 weeks already with his hyper-extension.

Have to wait to hear of the severity. Never a good sign to have to be stretchered.

He also strained the MCL, so it was more than just a hypertextension.

Seems that a hyperextension can come with other issues. Went up for a header a season ago and landed funny. Now I have LCL and patellar tendon problems. Hopefully he's back fit sooner rather than later.

    http://sbisoccer.com/2016/12/gooch-to-see-specialist-for-ankle-injury

It’s been a fantastic start to the season for Lynden Gooch, so an injury setback comes as a major disappointment to the U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder.

After being stretchered off during a Sunderland U-23 match against Tottenham with an ankle injury, Gooch will have to see a specialist for potential ligament damage, Sunderland manager David Moyes stated in his pre-match press conference.

“Looks like Lynden has damaged a ligament in his ankle.” said Moyes. “He is seeing a specialist today and then will have a clearer outcome.”

Gooch has featured consistently for the Sunderland first team this season, earning praise from his peers and the notice of former USMNT manager Jurgen Klinsmann, who gave him his first senior call up.

He also speculated he'll be out around 8-12 weeks...obviously unfortunate, but I feared the worst when I heard he landed wrong with no contact.

Sorry to hear about the injury, just when he was starting to work his way back into the Sunderland squad. Hope it's nothing too serious.

At least it's not a knee.
American players have had no end of problems with injuries in that area down the years, even T-Boyd, aka Cyclops, who's never played in the US (NT games excepted)

The big unknown now is whether this is the same ankle that he hurt in the first month of his Doncaster loan in January and played on for 4 months before finally giving in and bowing out the last month of the season. That much trauma in such a short time frame reeks of chronic recurrence.

Are you posting this due to Traore's similar physical characteristics?

I've watched Traore several times, and I'm not sure he's ever completed a pass.

He posted it because Gooch is on that list of fastest attackers in the premier league...........................

Whether that means anything is open to debate.

TBH, I doubt Sunderland misses Gooch at all. He had already fallen from starter to 89' sub by the time he got injured.

I beg to differ...they desperately need as many bodies as they can get at this point. The team is bad enough when healthy, but the injuries have killed them.
