I think it helps that they have hired Kim Tate in January to help with their bilingual media. From her LinkedIn profile: We are only one of two clubs out of 18 with an English-language presence online and internationally. TJ has a huge location advantage (and can take advantage of the "border club rule" by having families - or just the player- move to So Cal), but it helps them be found more easily. And Kim will publicize the Yanks specifically, unlike other clubs who almost seem embarrassed they have an American-raised player on their squad.

Debut tonight for Californian Luis Tavares for Puebla in the Copa MX. 19-year-old was in Santos Laguna's youth teams at U-15 and U-17 level. #ligamxeng— Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) January 10, 2019
Wow, that's random. He's been off the radar for a year or two. Looks like he re-emerged via an Alianza competition. https://www.elsoldepuebla.com.mx/de...anece-sin-refuerzos-rumbo-al-c19-2826028.html EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure if his Alianza win was how he got to Santos Laguna in the first place. He spent last season with Sacramento Republic. http://sacr.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=3946880&player=265794201
It's funny because I looked at the lineup card and thought that name was familiar... and remembered the Santos guy, but that's the thing in Mexico, way too many similar names.
