Dude this guy deserves a shot much more than those guys. Has more tools than say, world cup vet Brad davis and actually make an impact for the US.

Good aerially, vision, touch, scoring, free kicks, quick. This guy is like a Dempsey lite

That's going a little far. I think he looks great vs. certain teams in MLS--mainly the ones that give him time and space on the ball. The high pressuring, very physical ones that don't give him that time, often times end up dispossessing him. Against A level concacarf competition he will get that and will struggle because his biggest problem is his lack of awareness when he has the ball and goes coming from behind him at speed. I've seen him lose the ball countless times like that.

He's not at the age where you can chaulk that up to being younger and still learning. He still can improve, but I at this point, he's I'd say behind where he should be.

You would be hard pressed to find a bigger Luis Silva fan than me. I have been watching him play since his freshman year at UCSB. The one area where he is weak is aerially. He wins almost no header duels and doesn't seem that interested in doing so.

But that's ok. His game is with the ball at his feet and when it comes to his vision, touch, creativity, etc, he's very good.

Has Silva played most of this season as a midfielder or forward?

If he'd been a starter since the beginning of the season he'd be an mvp candidate.

He originally played in the midfield in the beginning of the year. When it was obvious that it wasn't working out (lacking defensive workdays), Olsen pushed him higher up.

They both play similar positions in very different ways. They are both forwards. Zardes leads the line more while Silva is a bit more withdrawn. He's supposed to be more of a creative player, but his relative lack of assists doesn't really support that. Though that doesn't take away from the good season that he's having. Based on results though, Zardes is the better player, at a younger age.

silva is a creative player that sparks his team around him. Zardes is a good player...don't get me wrong, but Silva has a higher soccer IQ and is more creative and much more fun to watch. He's electric whenever he touches the ball.

lol you must didnt see zardes goal vs new york on sunday. Smarter goal than altidore has ever scored in the past 2 years. I had my doubts about zardes but the kid is going to be special

Yes! That is exactly what I was trying to articulate. Silva simply has more dimension to his game.

Silva is a floating scorer that doesn't do anything else particularly well. Nothing is wrong with that, if he can do it with the national team.
