Luis Silva reportedly heading to Liga MX side Tigres. His agent, Chris Megaloudis, offered a "No comment" on the reports.— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) December 3, 2015 Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Silva MLS: http://www.mlssoccer.com/players/luis-silva
The Mexican side is yet to announce the former MLS forward as a signing but confirmed the 27-year-old is training with the side. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/114/mexico/2016/01/01/18900292/luis-silva-training-with-tigres
*Now* he's on the books at Tigres: http://sbisoccer.com/2016/01/luis-silva-officially-added-to-tigres-roster-ahead-of-liga-mx-season
Pretty nice, great opportunity to learn from great players. Of course he is not going to play, but he should be proud of making the team.
Are Tigres Barcelona? If not, then a player of Silva's talent shouldn't be "proud" of getting to practice with this bunch of "legends".
LOL! Oh ok, obviously you don't know the history of this team and current players. If he plays 90 minutes the whole season I will call it a success.
I have seen enough of Tigres to know that they aren't Barcelona. Yes, they are more talented than DC United or RSL, especially on the ball. But the gap isn't astronomical. To be clear, I am not predicting Silva will play even 90 minutes all season. My point is that he is a giant Fuc%up and wastes his talent, and that the main reason why he didn't eventually succeed in DC or Salt Lake and why he shouldn't be proud of sitting in the stands for a Mexican League team, even a strong one.
This is what we should say about Christian Pulisic who is 17 and playing at Dortmund. Any 27 year old should not be content with just making a team and no one that age should sign with a club if he really believes he is not going to play.
At the end of the day, it is a job and is getting paid to be available to the team. He will get paid whether he plays or not. Absolutely everybody wants to play, but you also want to eat.
He's also 27, with an injury history that has cost him games and opportunities, and looking pretty likely to have no international career to speak of. Maybe you take the money and run.
Sounds a bit like Jonathan Bornstein's career in Liga MX: 2011–2015 Tigres UANL 9 (0) 2014 → Atlante (loan) 3 (0) 2014–2015 → Querétaro (loan) 13 (1) 2015– Querétaro 8 (0) Despite getting minimal playing time at 27+, he stuck it out in Mexico because the money was too good. Now, of course, he has broken through as a Queretaro starter, but most of us were betting against that after the rough road he was on for much of his time there.
Good for Bornstein. The guys is generally not good enough for the international game but I'm glad he has found his level (and a nice check for him and his family).
Good point. I have a weird feeliogn he surprises us though at Tigres...a team with a LOT of talent. Don't know why though. We'll see. One thing's for sure--he's getting paid a pretty penny compared to what he'd get in MLS.
He was a part-time player for a bad MLS team last year. Now he's on one of the best LigaMX teams and joined them a little late. So this is not unexpected. I'd guess he eventually settles in as a sub.
still no word about luis...is he injured? I thought he would be making the gameday rosters by this point.
One month later, still no sign of Silva. Is he even in training with Tigres? Injured? What's going on?
He was playing games for El Chapo (until he got arrested) with Bjorn Maars and Perry Kitchen. Now they're stuck in a Mexican prison with him. Just gotta wait until the next tunnel is dug in broad daylight by greased guards and they can get out and back playing.
Silva is very talented and will eventually break through. Though, it's going to take some time. I have no doubt, once he gets his chance they are going to like the way he makes things happen up top. If Tigres lose anther match, you'll ve seeing him sooner than later...
