Kaiserslautern II, with Luis Robles in goal, won 2-1 against SC Idar Oberstein on Saturday. In addition, Robles suited up for Kaiserslautern's 3-4 win in St. Pauli on Friday.

Kaiserslautern II, with Luis Robles in goal had a 1-1 result in SV Roßbach/Wied to move them to 6th place in the table and only 6 points out of the promotion zone.

In addition, Robles suited up as Sippel's back up in Kaiserslautern's 2-3 loss at home to Jena.

Next game is not until after the winter break on March 1 at home against Wormatia Worms.

Kaiserslautern is training over the winter break in Gran Canaria, Spain (Canary Islands). The first test match was a 2-0 loss to UD Las Palmas in the Maspalomas Cup. Luis Robles saw some action when Sippel was shown a red card in the 81st minute.

Next match is today against Helsingborg IF.

Does the red card mean Robles will start today?

That is a good question. My guess is yes, because even though it is a testspiel both games are part of a tournament.

Kaiserslautern played much better today. With Luis Robles in goal, due to Sippel's red card from the previous game, Kaiserslautern won 2-1 over Helsingborg IF to take 3rd place in the Maspalomas Cup.

Newspaper article about Luis Robles today:

My German is not good enough to give an accurate translation but essentially:

    1. Feels he is learning a lot and becoming a better keeper training under Kaiserslautern's goalkeeper coach.
    2. Had first start with professional team during testspiel.
    3. Was going to train with Jena over the summer, but when the team transfered Macho the sport director called him and wanted him to resign.
    4. Feels he is in a good situation, but not sure what he is going to do over the summer.

Photos from Training. Have not seen any from training in the Canary Islands. Will be on bench for testspiel against Freiburg on the 20th and Hertha Berlin on the 26th. May see the field in the second half.

    Zak1FCK,

I just found this site and would like to thank you for updating everyone on Luis's progress. I have known Luis since he was about 13. I was stationed at Ft. Huachuca (Sierra Vista) and helped him grow as a player. He is a great goalkeeper and an even better person. You are doing a great service for all his friends and fans!!!! Thanks

Ah!! A comedian! Thanks I needed that. That's your best effort so far.

Did Luis get to play in the match? Newly signed American midfielder Bryan Arguez played for Hertha in the second half.

    Thanks for the updates Zak.

I just went and looked it up myself on FCK's website and it looks like Sippel played.

Sippel - Müller, Kotysch (Esswein 84.), Schönheim, Weigelt - Reinert, Demai (Bohl 62.), Bernier, Bellinghausen(C)- Simpson, Runströmn (Jendrisek 62.)

Hmm, put my German to use. I lived in Zeltingen-Rachtig while my father was in the military there. He bacame an FCK fan, but I was too young to care.

Robles went the distance in Kaiserslautern's 4-1 testspiel win over FK Pirmasens, an oberliga (4th level) team. There were 6 subs at halftime and 8 overall.

Robles was not tested too much, but he had a great one on one save in the 10th minute.

Looks like Robles had a slight injury to his right thumb from the Pirmasens game and only had light training on January 30. Notice the tape on his right hand.

However he seemed to be up to par the next day

Well that good to here, PR need more good goalkeppers that arent nationalized, I read that if more money is alocated to the PR Fed, they will persue geting Robles and some other American players that are of Puerto Rican decent. How good is his league, lets say compared to the USL 1 where the current PR goalkeeper plays, Joshua Saunders, whih I assume Robles should be better.

Where does he play in FCK or FCK II? I saw that he is third string in FCK, but i would imagine that means his first in FCK II or something, Im guessing here.
