And they barely missed doing it even though they had 23 new players on the roster and the youngest team in the league.

I am trying to confirm this, but it seems Robles was on the bench for Kaiserslautern II's win over KÖLLERBACH. Once I get the game day lineup I will post it.

The last paragraph in a local article officially confirms Robles at Kaiserslautern:

    Code:
Während Stammkeeper Florian Fromlowitz bei der U21 weilt, ließ
Torwarttrainer Gerry Ehrmann Tobias Sippel gestern kräftig „fliegen".
Ebenso wie Luis Robles, der nach Jürgen Machos Wechsel zu AEK Athen
als dritter Torhüter bei den Profis trainiert.

    Zak1FCK,

Do you have any useful information on Joel Thomas with FCK? He is listed as French, but could be French/American perhaps.

I am pretty sure he is only French, but I will make a few inquiries.

Robles is playing today in FK Pirmasens, because Sippel may have a minor injury (whatever "rot-gesperrten" means).

Robles got his first league clean sheet, second overall, in a match at FC 08 Homburg (former Kaiserslautern and USMNT player Tom Dooley's first professional club) in a 0-0 draw. He had several early saves (1and 3 minutes)and then made a spectacular save in the 8th minute. After that Homburg never really pressed, nor did Kaiserslautern until late in the game with several shots hitting the woodwork.

In related news, Fromlowitz severally injured his knee, and is probably out for the season. This moves Robles up to second in depth and will result in a similar situation as the spring when he would suit up for the first team to sit the bench and then play for the reserve team.

    Kaiserslautern's keepers:

Florian Fromlowitiz (21 years old, U-23 German National Team) INJURED
Tobias Sippel (19 years old, former U-19 German National Team)
Luis Robles (23 years old, former U-21 US National Team)
    Stefan Steigerwald (18 years old)

Yep, Fromlowitz is out for the season and Robles is the backup for Sunday's game against Aue.

Why isn't Robles on the official website? Heck he isn't even on the teams wiki page:(

They had not signed him to a full contract until recently and just had not updated the official website. He was just brought in to fill a backup role when Macho was transfered to AEK Athens.

It looks like Kaiserslautern may bring in former player Andreas Reinke, who is the German Youth National Team Keeper coach as a backup as well. He would serve as some leadership for the keepers, considering the young age of the other three.

Kaiserslautern II used 3 U-19 players in the starting 11 and 5 more on the bench with Luis Robles in the goal in a 3-1 Southwest Regional Cup win over TuS Mechtersheim. Kaiserslautern dominated large chunks of the game, with the exception of the last 25 minutes of the first half when Robles made several key saves. The only goal for Mechtersheim was a penalty kick in the 20th minute. The beginning of the second half was back and forth with both sides getting a number of good chances, until Kaiserslautern scored their 3rd on an own goal.

Robles was named one of the men of the match.

Kaiserslautern move on to the quarterfinals. The winner gets a birth in next year's DFB cup.

Kaiserslautern won't no matter what (reserve sides can't qualify for the national stage anymore next year).

New article about Robles on ASD:

    Robles Ready to Go!

    http://www.americansoccerdaily.com/news/robles071107.htm

With his first team debut approaching, the young keeper is well aware of the added pressure. It's a burden shared by new starter Tobias Sippel, who is just 19 years of age.

"Now that I'm on the bench, with what happened to Florian, there is this focus," added Robles. "At training, every time that Sippel even remotely takes a knock, all of the guys look to me like 'you're the starting keeper'."

and this must be the follow up long interview. Interesting stuff about having offers from Pauli and DC United but wanting to stay in 'Lautern.

His problem, and not mentioned in either article, is the fact that he is 23. The reserve team can only have 3 players 23 or older on the field at any time. That is why he has been hit or miss when it comes to playing time. It depends if the needs for that day allow for him to take one of the slots.

Both Robles and Sippel combined for a clean sheet in a testspiel against FSV Lu-Oggersheim. Robles played the entire second half and Kaiserslautern won 3-0.
