I hate quoting myself (I actually love quoting myself) but as I said earlier, if they expect him to be a #9 like Bacca they are in for some disappointment. If they are happy with a performance like he had yesterday then great. He will be very active and dangerous hitting posts and sending the ball wide, but he won't be as clinical in front of the goal as Bacca was.
Extended recap: Most of the shots were very tight angles. It was the one that hit the post that should have went in. He didn't need to hit it that damn hard. In that sense, I do think Bacca is a better suited 9. But Bacca blows TONS of chances and tends not to create as many chances as Muriel can for himself. I expect Ben Yedder starts the next match...
I don't remember Bacca blowing his chances much at Sevilla. For Colombia and to a certain extent for Milan he was a bit more wasteful and got into a funk( a funk that he still can't get out of BTW).
Muriel got into dangerous positions and was unlucky not to score, but a few of them were pretty difficult having to create a chance with the ball floating over his head, those are always really tricky and he forced the keeper to make a good save. Over all he looked dangerous, I think he could have really good season, but Sevilla need to drop Navas, he's trash and way too one dimensional.
Muriel came on for Ben Yedder, who didn't do too great. Not much to do for Muriel until he broke free for a great countering run, but he did a poor job of finishing. Ben Yedder will get the next start...
He was very lively though by constantly pressuring the back four which eventually led to led to the winning goal
This Sevilla side is god awful tho. I don't expect much from them and Ganso may have score the goal but he's stinking up the place heavily
Think like 6 years ago the Brazilians wanted 30-40 million for Ganso haha http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/inter-milan-strike-35m-deal-santos-star-ganso-1533701 Seriously we need their agents and marketing people in Colombia.
I don't think is a terrible side, but I do think that they lack more of a target man striker and have too many of the winger/overdribbling kind. On paper, Nolito, Navas, Muriel, Sarabia and even Ganso would make for an exciting, fast moving team. It is a little too early to judge them, but with all that talent, if the coach figure a consistent attacking unit, this team could be thrilling. Ganso is very talented but he plays like he doesn't care and that really hurts the team, they lose too many balls on attack and end up suffering on defense, which so far looks very iffy too.
Ganso is slow. Hate that they were turned off by the 8 million for Cardona but got that piece of shit for 12. Also didn't they get Banega back from Inter?
That team needs time to fit in all the new pieces I like Muriel and Banega but Navas is terrible and kills build up with forcing crosses and can't score a goal for his life, Nolito as well isn't great, but at least he can link up in play and have more dimensions to his game. I think they'll be fine as a team but it will probably take a while to settle the lineup, they have a big squad and players like Sarabia and Vasquez had some very good games last year. They need to drop Navas and make Nolito earn his place, would rather see Muriel play wide left and Nolito come off the bench for now.
I think it's time for him to overtake Cuadrado in the starting line up. Cuadrado has been pretty frustrating with the way he stops our attacks. Muriel is constantly creating danger and putting pressure on the defense. Cuadrado can be the super sub he used to be back in 2012
Watched some of his match today and he was typical Muriel to me. Very active on the wings and hustling. Could not really put a good shot on goal though.
There were rumours after the match agaisnt paraguy.....but falcao calmed down him and he satyed with the group. Then he denied the rumours.
