I agree players deserve respect. you're right about that. But let's face it, we have a small poster roster 10-15 guys... why insult each other. I love my Colombian NT but we both have more in common with a poster like CZD than we do with mega million rich players like Muriel....common now, you know better.

Everyone would like him and everyone to Improve. He needs to start scoring in yellow. I prefer Borja get his shot above Muriel.

Muriel is a wing and second top. Borja cant play in his position . Different habilites

Cant play together and Muriel isnt benching him

Since lecce, Muriel is in his best moment of his career in europe

overall, i actually like what i have been seeing from Muriel in the national team. he's creating opportunities and keeping opposing defenders / goalkeepers on their toes similar to how JC11 was doing back in 2012 when he was smoking past defenders and lighting up the stadium with stepovers etc.

He's not afraid to take chances which is what i like. rather than resorting to a back pass or going for a predictable pass, he's trying to push forward. That's what i loved so much about JC11 when he bursted on the scene.

Borja on the NT would be an interesting call-up and could serve as a wake up call to Bacca.

He was arguably the most dangerous player against Chile in Santiago. I hope he has a great game against them in Barranquilla too.

Would be great to see him start as a second striker next to Falcao in Barranquilla.

Scored the tying goal and the go ahead goal in the last 10 minutes against Sassuolo. Another MOTM performance.

They didn't credit him with the assist because Quagriella ended up netting it after he hit the post, which I think is silly.

que piensas que lo mantiene tan desaprovechado? Practica bien? Coincido que es bastante extrano.... En un pasado no lejano JNP se atrevia a jugar con esquemas agresivos hasta en Santiago...

I doubt there's anything Muriel is doing 'wrong.' I've never seen the guy playing as he has been this season.

My thoughts when I saw the lineup against Chile were these:

-Fielding Borja and Berrio meant Pekerman thought those were 3 points that wouldn't be too hard to win. Chile's recent form and their injuries (Sanchez and Medel) may have had something to do with it. He'd wind up debuting the two kids, hopefully discovering that they could be options in "tougher" future matches, simultaneously keeping the most in-form attackers (Muriel and Falcao) rested for the match against Argentina. With that, the idea would have been to play all or nothing against Argentina. A loss wouldn't have been too big a deal; another win and we'd practically be qualified.

-Of course, that did not happen. Without those points from Chile, the idea of playing an open match against Argentina got thrown out the window. A point against Argentina became much more valuable than the potential 0-3 he was accounting for prior to the Chile match. So Muriel stayed on the bench because Pekerman felt (feels) 3 DMs improve our chances of keeping Argentina to 0. Falcao can take a beating from defenders and make something happen in set pieces, Muriel could bring in the pace later on in the match if needed.

This made a lot of sense to me at the time. But, that Copete substitution kinda put that all up in the air. I've always felt like I can undertsand Pek's tactics, at the very least in hindsight. Putting in Copete over Muriel was baffling to me. I still don't understand it. It felt like Pekerman was stabbing in dark...

Either way, I hope Muriel keeps this going all season. He's playing like the striker I always thought he was going to be

I think that's an unfair comparison. When Muriel isn't scoring he's still a threatening player. He'll always take on defenders and take a couple shots per game. Montero, on the other hand, would go ice cold.

Lol. He's always had weight problems, but that has not been an issue this season. The guy plays at 100 mph from the whistle.

It's just keeping cool in front of the goal. During this couple month snide, he truly didn't have that many clear scoring opps. But that pressure kept mounting. Either last week or the week before he missed a comical one. Today should bring back the confidence.
