3 ID's to get into a bar? I don't think anyone sketchy is getting into that bar, so how could the bar be described as sketchy?

It's easier to get on a plane.

Actually it was Chantilly, which is in Fairfax county - but still pretty close to the airport, so same neighborhood more or less.

If it's rush hour, you're screwed, yes; but that's true here too. If it ain't rush hour, you can get to Bridgeview in 30 minutes.

That's true -- there's really no reason to be out in Bridgeview unless you're going to a match or unless you're workin' on the railroad all the livelong day (or were, in my case, driving through).

I don't know what goes on in there. We did NOT ask the cab driver to stop. My point is, it is not a nice neighborhood. Trust me on this - I grew up in New Orleans and I know a bad neighborhood when I see one.

I stayed in Bridgeview the night before & after DC's Open Cup win in 2013 and found it rather average. I did eat probably the best Mexican I had ever had there.

We can make Loudoun jokes all day but the real issue is that the team thinks that just a new stadium, without tailgating mind you, will just magically fix attendance in the long run.

Wherever this stadium winds up, it's hard to have faith in the current FO

I've never been to a game in Bridgeview, but I've driven past the stadium.

I won't disagree that the surroundings in Loudoun County are nicer. But that doesn't magically make up for the far-flung location. Part of what makes the quality of a stadium location is, well, the location.

Buzzard Point is an objectively better location because it's more central to the region.

    Repeated for visibility.

This is more serious than it originally appeared.

I swore that fedex-sponsored monstrosity was to the right of the outer loop - but that part of Maryland confuses me, it's all strip malls and people changing 3 lanes at a time while texting over there :)

But I get what y'all people who live so far that way are saying, I consider FedEx too far to go to see anything because of the traffic getting there, not by how close or far it looks on a map and Route 7 and the Toll Rd can be just as congested as that part of the beltway.

As convenient as it would be for me, it's stupid of the team to take the idea too seriously, imo. That apparently has not stopped them however.

I passed Poplar Point on Saturday, and it made me sad for that falling through. as we drove past, my wife goes "but there's no Metr......oh, there it is. Why did that fall through, again?"

    I started sobbing.

Interesting expanded take on DC United's future in Virginia (and if they're smart, they have one - just not on game day)

I'm willing to take one for the team and keep driving to DC for games - assuming they give me a place to park of course
It would be nice to visit the offices in Loudoun if I need something mid-week or want to watch practice :) At least the one site I know they looked at is pretty close to two good breweries :)

So .... The comprehensive solution in Virginia apparently includes:

    (1) Shuttle buses from Dulles Metro stop (starting in 2030)
    (2) New Greenway exit that will cost $5, plus $30 for parking
    (3) New stadium for the 3,000 to 4,000 anticipated attendance
    (4) Supersonic plane fly-overs for every DC United (actually, see below) score to deliver a sonic boom
    (5) Separate seating section for those rowdy fans from western Loudoun County
    (6) BB will no longer stand for "Barra Brava" but "Bieber Believers" to accommodate new membership from the tweeners
    (7) DCU will be changed to WBSU for "White Bread Suburbs United"

Actually, it was Herndon (they had offices in Chantilly - almost Centreville - after they moved out of the old Redskins facility - now a church with 2 turf fields behind it ... but I think at that point they were training at the RFK aux field).
