Lucas Pos has started the last three games at right back for FC Lausanne-Sport in the Swiss Challenge League. It appears he was just promoted from the U-21 squad in November. Pos is not yet listed on the first-team roster on the Lausanne-Sport website. Transfermarkt indicates that he was born in Irvine, CA in 1998 and is a dual citizen of the US and Switzerland.
You know a call-up is obscure when you come to this forum and the guy's thread has 5 posts. Apparently he has 7 appearances for Lausanne in the Swiss second tier, all coming since November. He scored twice in his debut, and has been sent off twice in his last 3 games after picking up 2 yellows. He has largely played as a right back.
His name didn't ring a bell, so I had to google his name and "bigsoccer" to see if there was a thread. Imagine my surprise when I saw I had already posted in it!
https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...-named-to-roster-for-first-2019-training-camp Named to Kreis' first U-23 MNT Camp. Edit: Shit.... I got beat to the punch. The news has been posted.
I actually don't think it's that rare, but it's also not rare for BS to be aware of a guy for (seemingly) much longer than the USSF. For example, no one on BS knew about Diskerud or Carter-Vickers until they were called up.
A recent TV interview. It's in Swiss, I think. I should also mention that there are two other American-eligible players at this club -- who knows, maybe more. (An '02 GK, Zeisger, and an '03 outfield player, Okoh.) So, I guess this callup means it's safe to assume U.S. Soccer is, at the very least, aware of them.
French FYI. Lausanne is in the french-speaking part of Switzerland (Official languages are French, German, Italian)
Transfermarkt says he is without club. Rumor of a move to Swansea: 1158024997908242434 is not a valid tweet id
Snip: Championship side Wigan Athletic are interested in signing American defender Lucas Pos on a free transfer, according to reputable journalist Alan Nixon. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/wigan-athletic-eyeing-up-transfer-swoop-for-defender/

He was listed as a trialist when he played for a reserve squad in mid-September, but he doesn't appear to have signed. https://wiganathletic.com/news/2019/september/U23-Report-Wigan-Athletic-2-Charlton-Athletic-1/ https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/fo...nsists-wigan-athletic-skipper-morsy-1-9999399
