See our needs are not Fulham's needs. We need more guys who understand space, read the game, can play with control and combine. We have plenty of guys who can run all day, beat and bang with the opposition and basically play physical, direct and nasty soccer but we are a few pieces away from being a GOOD national team and even though DLT might not fit with what is needed for success at the Championship league level, he could be the missing piece of the puzzle in our USMNT midfield which is sorely lacking in creativity and class.
Quotes from fans on the Blackburn U23 game: "maybe i was too generous with motm for de le torre however i think he was instrumental in most of their attacks great passing and getting out of tight spaces with quick speed and good control" "De La Torre was invisible until the 65th minute but after that he was superb."
Speed of play, physicality of 1st team soccer can be a shock at first Coming from the youth teams. Huge adjustment. The Championship is more physical than the PL.
DLT didn't dress for Monday's U23 game, so I'll speculate that he'll be in the squad in Fulham's League Cup match against Middlesbrough today.
On the bench Here's your #ffc team, brought to you by @Coral, that will be taking on @Boro this evening. #COYW pic.twitter.com/4YiKoeL3Bg— Fulham Football Club (@FulhamFC) August 24, 2016 Jozabed was recently brought in for 4m Euros from Rayo Vallencano. He's a 25 y/o Spanish CM/CAM and will likely take up a solid chunk of the minutes LDT would have got.
Fulham level 1-1 with Premier side Middlesborough - game now in extra time and will be decided tonight by PKs if still level after extra time LDT makes appearance in 1st half of extra time as a substitute in minute 104, replaces Jozabed
Livestream commentary available on Fulham Website: http://www.fulhamfc.com/first-team/2016_2017/league-cup/round-2/middlesbrough Fulham have just scored - with brilliant work by DLT.
Gentleman Jim a big fan of DLT's work and especially leading up to goal. "Great work" by DLT "wrong foots Middlesbrough defenders" and he slides it out to Scott Malone who delivers brilliant cross to Christensen for Fulham's second

Final score 2-1 for Fulham. Draw for round 3 of the League Cup will take place on Sky Sports tonight - Quote from match commentator "terrific work from DLT setting up the winning goal...with a powerful run past defenders, then slipped toe ball to the wing"
Is he #36? If so, he is making a nice run around 1:29 of that clip too. (Good quality highlights, btw.)
DLT making a nice dribbling move at the top of the box and dishing is exactly why I started liking him as a player with the 17's.
I think the defender dove in and nicked it onto his plant foot and not his trapping foot. But I dunno, it looked cool and I like this kid.
Another start in PL2: PL2: Team v @AVFCOfficial: Norman, Fossey, Kavanagh, Smile, Davies, Sheckleford, de la Torre, Adeniran, Walker, Adebayo, Edun— Fulham Football Club (@FulhamFC) September 12, 2016
Thus I jested "re"-academy. I think he's only played in Cup games, and off the bench. Now he's back to u-23.
DLT and Fossey again started for Fulham u23 today vs Stoke u23 - another win for Fulham u23, which takes them up to 2nd place in the Premier League 2 Division 2 table. Both started and played the full 90 minutes at Stokes Bet365 (main) stadium. Playing together in the same Fulham u23 team is building their understanding of each other's game - which will be of benefit if/when they are both on the field together in a USA Youth team?
