Also forgot to mention this is awesome news! I need to be watching more matches my only pet peeve about most coverage I come by has no play by play. I don't care whether it is in French or German or Italian I like to have that noise.
I do find it a bit humorous that the third division gets more live coverage of games than the second division since the second division has only the Monday night game available for broadcast.
Technically it is both. Premier (1st) League - Promotion = 3rd Division Premier (1st) League - Classic = 4th Division
I always thought the fifth division was called the Erste Liga and the fifth division Zweite Liga Interregional. At least that's how I've always seen them referred.
The Swiss Soccer Pyramid RSL - 1st Division BCL - 2nd Division 1st League/Premier League/Erste League Promotion - 3rd Division 1st League/Premier League/Erste League Classic - 4th Division 2nd Interregional League - 5th Division - Lowest National/Regional League 2nd League - 6th Division - on the Cantonal Level
I'll probably watch Cham if there's nothing else going on. If Zug 94 manage to make it that high, I'll try to check them out, too. Other than that, I can't really see any reason to watch them. Funny enough, Lega Pro, which is the third tier of Italian soccer, has all of their matches available live for free on a website called Sportube.tv. They also have all of the highlights after the games are over on demand. Since I have a big interest in Italian soccer's top two divisions, I usually watch the playoffs to see who goes up to Serie B.
9 April Cham with a 6-0 victory over FC Sion II. They are currently 5 points ahead of Servette, but Servette plays tonight in the Geneva Derby against Etoile Carouge. With 8 matches to play, Etoile Carouge sits 5 points from safety. They are currently in last place.
16 April Basel II - Cham 17 April Servette - Tuggen 1st League Classic (Group 1) FC Stade Lausanne - Ouchy 38 La Chaux-de-Fonds 35 FC Bavois 35 1st League Classic (Group 2) FC Muensingen 39 FC Luzern II 37 S Delemont 35 1st League Classic (Group 3) FC Baden 42 GCZ II 39 Mendrisio FC 30 Top 2 from each group then the next top 2 point earners go to the play-off. Zug 94 is only ten points back of those playoff places. They struggled this year, but they'll be back next year. Hopp Zug!!
16 April Basel II - Cham 3-2 17 April Servette - Tuggen 3-0 Servette moves ahead of Cham by 1 point. It seems almost like Cham is a different team since the club announced that they would not be seeking a license. Servette needs 5 points to clinch promotion. 1st League Classic (Group 1) FC Stade Lausanne - Ouchy 41 FC Azzurri 90 36 La Chaux-de-Fonds 35 FC Bavois 35 1st League Classic (Group 2) FC Muensingen 42 FC Luzern II 38 SR Delemont 36 1st League Classic (Group 3) FC Baden 42 GCZ II 42 FC United Zurich 33 Mendrisio FC 30 Top 2 from each group then the next top 2 point earners go to the play-off. 23 April Servette - FC Koeniz 3-0 Cham - Breitenrain 2-2 Servette 53 Cham 50 Servette now sits 13 points ahead of Old Boys. There are 5 matches to play. Here is the situiation. If they win one of the remaining matches, or Old Boys loose one of their remaining matches Servette is promoted. With Cham refusing promotion, and Basel II ineligible, all could be decided next week. On the bottom end, if Etoilie Carouge wins this week, which would be two in a row, they would move out of the relegation zone and put FCZ II and FCSG II into it. 1st League Classic - Group 1 FC Stade Lausanne - Ouchy 44 La Chaux-de-Fonds 38 FC Azzurri 90 36 1st League Classic - Group 2 FC Muensingen 42 FC Luzern II 41 SR Delemont 36 1st League Classic (Group 3) FC Baden 42 GCZ II 42* FC United Zurich 33 Mendrisio FC 31 Top 2 from each group then the next top 2 point earners go to the play-off. Brilliant work!! Thanks for providing this info!! Since my Swiss Soccer app quit updating, I have had a hard time following these lower leagues.
Stade Nyonnais - Servette FCZ II - Cham I will be pulling for Cham this weekend as I would love a great escape by Etoile Carouge, and a FCZ II loss makes that all the more possible. Servette with a win this weekend wins promotion. The championship is still in doubt, but promotion due to Cham deciding not to pursue a license is almost there.
FCZ II - Cham 2-0 Stade Nyonnais - Servette 1-2 Servette wins promotion this past weekend. Cham's loss continues their slide since they announced that they would not seek promotion. They now sit 6 points back with 4 matches left. FCZII's victory combined with Etoile Carouge's defeat to Kriens make survival for Etoile Carouge very unlikely. 1st League Classic - Group 1 FC Stade Lausanne - Ouchy 47 La Chaux-de-Fonds 41 FC Bavois 38 FC Azzurri 90 37 1st League Classic - Group 2 FC Muensingen 45 FC Luzern II 44 SR Delemont 40 1st League Classic (Group 3) GCZ II 46 FC Baden 42 Winterthur II 34 FC United Zurich 34 Top 2 from each group then the next top 2 point earners go to the play-off. Promotion League: Neither Servette or Cham played, Servette could not play because the field at Rapperswil-Jona was unplayable. It has been moved to Wednesday. Cham plays at Tuggen tomorrow. With 3 matches left for both teams, Cham needs to claim all 9 points and Servette must loose all 3 matches for Servette not to be the champion. Relegation: FC Koeniz 32 FCZ II 32 Tuggen 32* Sion II 31 FCSG II 30 Etoile Carouge 25 With 2 matches left for Etoile Carouge, they are almost assuredly done for. Their only real hope to avoid relegation in that Biel gets sent down a long ways (2nd Interregional League), thus keeping one additional spot in the Promotion League for them. 1st League Classic - Group 1 Two matches left FC Stade Lausanne - Ouchy 53 La Chaux-de-Fonds 45 FC Bavois 42 FC Azzurri 90 38 1st League Classic - Group 2 FC Muensingen 49 FC Luzern II 44 SR Delemont 40 1st League Classic (Group 3) GCZ II 48 FC Baden 45 FC United Zurich 38 Top 2 from each group then the next top 2 point earners go to the play-off.
