Been following Cham so far this season (The Mis Marcadores/Flashscores app has been a godsend!) and I'm surprised they're doing as well as they are. They were on a solid run for a while there, but they've hit the skids a bit the last two weeks. They have a huge match coming up against Nyonnais, then they play Lausanne-Ouchy two weeks after that. Luckily, both matches are at home and should get decent crowds. If I can remember, I'll log in to mycujoo and watch them. Meanwhile, Zug 94 has been literally hot and cold. They have lost every other match they've played so far, so they're 3-1-5, but they next play Buochs on Saturday, and they're one point below them. After their struggles the last few years, I'm just hoping they don't get relegated down to the 5th tier. HOPP CHAM UND ZUG 94!!
The Premier League is an interesting one this season. With Stade Lausanne-Ouchy doing so well, one has to wonder if they will try and get promoted. If Stade Nyonnais was denied a license last season at a stadium that has hosted multiple Swiss Youth Internationals, and is right next to the UEFA HQ, does Stade Lausanne-Ouchy have a chance with their stadium right down by the lake?
So here is where we sit about 14 games into the season. Promotion League Stade Lausanne - Ouchy - 34 FC Sion II - 27 Yverdon-Sport - 25 Stade Nyonnais - 23 ... Basel II 13 FCZ II 13 Wohlen 13 Juventus Zurich 11 Stade Lausenne-Ouchy has been dominant this season. 34 points out of 42 is very impressive. Imagine the LS/Stade Lausanne-Ouchy derby next season! Spoke with someone with good familiarity of Swiss soccer regarding the Promotion League. Second teams (Like Sion II) can not be promoted any higher than the Promotion League. Lausanne-Sport is actually moving into a new stadium next year, so that will leave the Pontaise available if Lausanne-Ouchy wants to pay the rent to use that stadium to play in the Challenge League. That would pretty much be the only way they would go up. Either that, or pay the rent to Lausanne-Sport when they move into their new stadium, but LS may not want that. As of now, there are really only 3 clubs who could meet the stadium requirements for the Challenge League: Bellinzona, Yverdon, and Nyon. Given the standings as they are, we could see a non-sporting promotion come late-May.
I have no issues with II teams not being promoted. But the fact that some of the stadiums that are turned down by the SFL as non-compliant have hosted international matches and competitions. The Wohlen stadium in the summer hosted a Kosovo International, but is not good enough for the BCL. Stade Lausanne-Ouchy play in a stadium that has hosted multiple Swiss YNT matches and Youth Euro Qualifier group stage matches, but is not good enough for BCL. Somehow Chiasso gets by every year. I just do not get it. I wonder if Bellinzona was promoted, would Chiasso finally get relegated? The magic formula worked for the Swiss Federal Council for a long time, is this something similar, we need an Italian team or two in the RSL/BCL?
I posted this on the BCL thread as well, but Promotion League clubs have asked for a promotion playoff for their #2 vs BCL #9 starting in 2019-2020. With so few clubs being able to get a license, I wonder if it would happen. That is aside from the obvious hesitation by the RSL/BCL sides.

Thought I'd fire this back up since the second half of the season starts this weekend in the lower leagues PROMOTION LEAGUE Here are the standings with 13 rounds left in the Promotion League: 38 - Yverdon-Sport ------------------------------------------------------ 31 - Rapperswil-Jona 30 - Stade Nyonnais 30 - Etoile-Carouge 29 - Black Stars Base 27 - AC Bellinzona 26 - Brühl SG 22 - Basel II 22 - Breitenrain Bern 20 - Sion II 20 - Köniz 19 - SC Cham 18 - Zurich II 16 - Bavois ------------------------------------------------------ 15 - SC Young Fellows Juventus 9 - Münsingen YS look to be the clear favorites for promotion to the Challenge League, and there shouldn't be anything that would stop them from getting a license. Relegation race is exciting, though with 6 teams separated by only 5 points. ERSTE LIGA Only 12 rounds left to play in Switzerland's fourth division. Here are the top 4 and bottom 4 of each group Group 1 30 - Lausanne II 27 - Naters Oberwallis 25 - Meyrin 24 - Bulle ------------------------------------------------------ 13 - CS Chenois 13 - US Terre Sainte 12 - La Chaux-de-Fonds 2 - Azzurri Lausanne Group 2 30 - Delemont 28 - Wohlen 27 - Biel/Bienne 25 - Grasshopper Club Zurich II ------------------------------------------------------ 15 - Luzern II 15 - Buochs 10 - SC Goldau 5 - Zug 94 Group 3 34 - Tuggen 30 - Wettswil-Bonstetten 26 - Linth 24 - Winterthur II ------------------------------------------------------ 14 - St. Gallen II 14 - Dietikon 12 - Gossau 8 - Thalwil Bottom two from each division go down. Top 2 from each division go into the playoffs along with the two best 3rd place teams.
Although the SFL has postponed games in the Super and Challenge Leagues, for the moment, the schedule for the games in the lower divisions appear to be unaffected, but with more new cases popping up around Switzerland every day, no one knows what the plan will be for sure.
Interesting is the Spring season is not happening, who would get promoted? Would they simply take the standings as is? Yverdon is the clear winner in the Promotion league, but YF Juventus might be a little upset.
