United sign Daley Blind from Ajax Manchester United is delighted to announce that Daley Blind has completed his transfer for a fee of £14million. Daley joins on a four-year contract with the option to extend for a further year. Blind, 24, came through the ranks of the Ajax youth system, making his senior debut in 2008 for his hometown club. He has 19 caps for the Netherlands national team and was voted Dutch Player of the Year for the 2013/14 season. Daley Blind said: "It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United. "I have been at Ajax since I was seven years old and I will always have very fond memories of the club and of my time there. "Louis van Gaal is a tremendously talented coach, I have worked with him at Ajax and also for the Netherlands national team and I cannot wait to work with him at the biggest club in the world." Louis van Gaal said: "I am delighted Daley has signed for the club. "He is a very intelligent and versatile footballer that can play in many positions. "Daley is a great reader of the game, he has played under my philosophy over a number of years and he will be a great addition to the team."
So what are chances of him in the starting 11? Most peoples draft formations on the transfer thread today didn't include him.
I'd like that, but he's not flashy. He won't dive into tackles and he'll eschew the splash for the efficient. He'll do it while playing LB like Neville played RB (good Neville) and CM like Carrick plays CM. I think he'll be excellent though. Very smart and very capable. He'll be dropping into the gap between 2 CBs in a flatback 4 to make us a 352 in no time
Perhaps. It depends on the formation and availability of other players. In the 3-5-2 there might be the temptation to use him wide until Shaw returns.
Where though? I'm honestly having a hard time coming up with what the first 11 will be with him there
Watched him a fair few times and he is kind of dirty in a nice way. Will get physical. Even Herrera is dirty and certainly doesn't shy away from a tackle.
A good signing at a fair price. He can play a squaddie if needs be, and can play in place of Carrick, or beside him if needs be. Gives us good flexibility. Clearly not first choice however. If we really wanted him we should have got him during the tour.
-------------------Falcao---------------- ADM------------Herrara-------Rooney ------------Carrick-----Blind----------- Shaw------Rojo-------Evans----Rafael I'd use that against City or Chelsea.
I would play ADM centrally, it is a bit like Yaya. A genuine ball-carrier running through the middle scares most defenses.
I'm okay with that, but what do you do with Herrera? I'm just asking because you mentioned (was it you?) the double pivot.
