For federally guaranteed loans, perhaps place leans on your paycheck (like with child support). For non federal guaranteed loans, not much if people declare bankruptcy. I know that you not not unload some type of college loans with bankruptcy, I am not sure exactly how that works.
Then they'll just be getting what they're already getting, sans any discharge that a judge might make, pending relief legislation - that I'm sure I won't qualify for Pretty much - Mortgage lenders are going to be primary and most of NFG SL's would be secondary unsecured creditors - they'd take it in the ass, rightfully. Personally, I'd make sure I paid off any credit card debts just to fuck Sallie Mae / Navient in the ass. It'd be like getting to run a Houston 500 on Betsy DeVos Guaranteed Student Loans - correct - Uncle Sam confiscates your tax return, assuming you get one
I did see that, after your post. I doubt that it would help many people. If you have high interest loans, then you are probably not putting much or any money away into your 401K. If you have low interest loans, then borrowing from your 401K to pay for those loans may be a dumb financial decision. So it seems that it is just Paul throwing shit at a wall to look like he is doing something.
@ceezmad I just glanced through your post 829 and dismissed because the baseline is the 1960s. That makes it irrelevant to the discussions we have here. It feels like you use a search engine to find “well, actually” articles but either don’t read or don’t understand them.
The next time I hear GOP types tell me low taxes are good, I'm going to scream. Corporations paid 11.3 percent tax rate last year, in steep drop under President Trump’s law https://t.co/s28cQLbi91— Matea Gold (@mateagold) December 16, 2019
American labor has abdicated its political power, by voting culture rather than pocketbook. The politicians who voted for these corporate tax handouts aren't in the least worried about voter backlash. They'll hug their Donald Trump pictures and yell about bad Democrats, and they'll be re-elected by the people who are hurt by these economic policies.
Maybe this should go on the housing thread. A story about 3D printing houses. Now if this were to become something big, I would assume that construction companies would lobby hard to make it very difficult to use this technology in large scale to help the poor. https://www.fastcompany.com/9044040...has-its-first-houses?utm_source=pocket-newtab There is lots of money to be made in making shitty, over-priced housing for poor people, paid by the government.
@ceezmad You've had your sig for quite some time. The last sentence should read "Let's try to field a team that can qualify to do that next time around!
Ironically, Fred Trump provided well-made affordable housing for low and middle class New Yorkers (with backing by the FHA) while Donnie makes glitzy, over-priced housing for the 1%.
Then I invite @ceezmad to tell us where in the US these new projects are being built. Yes, it’s a trap.
The article is about building housing in Mexico. There we have infonavid and other type projects that build cheap housing. http://www.casasinfonavit.com.mx/
But would it be "a great wall" and a "big, beautiful wall" and could we make "Mexico pay for that wall"?
During the debate a few days ago, Warren brought up Mayor Pete’s fundraiser in a rather lavish wine cave. A good short read on how social media exposed the lifestyles of the rich and the famous. Having family that worked for the rich, I met a lot of older wealthy types that kept a low profile and were quite nice. And they always kept a low profile for a reason. 1208103900261371910 is not a valid tweet id
Democrats should stop these criticisms. It only hurts them, because voters who care about such things are eager progressives who will either vote Dem or not at all. These attacks increase the chances that they will not vote at all. Also, do we think FDR didn't have rich friends who donated money? Come on now.
