Lads this, hands down, is the tune I think of when I think of the city of Austin Texas and, due to recent gatherings in recent times, you guys. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekta6EKhb2g&feature=related"]YouTube - Joe Cocker - With a Little Help From My Friends[/ame] And even if you know only the chorus it's still awesome enough to be an anthem IMHO and you just can not sing it wrong no matter how hard you try.
again, it's just what comes to my mind when I think of the city of Austin Tx, and the AFC. how bought you guys?
I've been out of the loop a bit guys, but I think Lonestar is quite possibly the best song I can imagine singing at the games. It just fits, from title to artist, ABSOLUTELY love it.
i wish there was some kind of simulator to see how lonestar sounds when sung by a big crowd. In my head it sounds pretty good.
I was in the midst of Insomnia when I posted this. But I recall at the Columbus game starting a certain rock and roll rift on the drums and a couple of us were feeling it. Well now I'm going to go ahead and make this my co-#1 choice for our Sections anthem alongside Lonestar. And who gives a sh!t what the acctual lyrics are it's a fun ass song, it's got a good groove, everybody and their youngest daughter has at least heard of it. It's Animal House material for crying out LOUD. It's [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WcgqXMncf4&feature=related"]YouTube - Kingsmen - Louie Louie[/ame]
This is my favorite idea for a CHANT not ANTHEM. by the excellent 1960's Brazilian Band "OS MUTANTES" Song "BAT MACUMBA" [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrQlDV2qcu0"]YouTube - Batmacumba - Mutantes[/ame] Don't forget Austin has Bats and a Brazilian named Sullivan Silva It will add a nice latin flare to the atmosphere.
macumba noun1. (Brazil) 1. Brazilian cult incorporating the use of fetishes and sorcery and deriving largely from African practices.2. popular dance music of Brazil; derived from the practices of the macumba religious cult 3. a Brazilian religious cult of African origin; combines voodoo elements with singing and chanting and dancing. typical aztex pagan worship. why are we going down this path?
hey rangerus, haven't seen ya on these threads in awhile. And hey why don't we get a little pagan mixed with our Christianity, i mean hell it was good for the ancient church why can't it be good for us.
Ok enough is enough. I just made ten copies of the lyrics of Lonestar, that should be more than enough for at least the core members of this little motley krewe of ours, and I will pass them out tommorow at The Nomad. If we sing it we sing it, if we don't we don't but at least the excuse that "nobody knows the words" can be taken care of in at least some small way.
After Sat. I am finally convinced K.I.S.S (Keep.It.Simple.Stupid) is the best policy for the forceable future. Yep, you heard it here first.
