Noted. I am not judging your choices, just trying to help you get the best out of your TV. As they (used to?) say on the Tivo forum: Relax, it's just TV.
Literally could not read the numbers at all on the Toronto unis from the distance shot and could barely make out the DC numbers. NC8 in standard def is an abomination. Still don't get why I can't watch the DirectKick feed from the opposing broadcast that I pay extra for, along with all the other matches. 9 of the 20 teams have no local blackout restrictions - if DC is going to stick all us DirectTV/Dish users with a standard def product, at least drop the local blackout. Interest is waning on my part.
Well Baltimore got the HD treatment in the main channel 24, which was a surprise. If every game was like that you can see why they wanted the change. I didn't see the whole game but what I saw came off professional.
We had access to Direct Kick on Direct TV with the San Jose game. Maybe not home games? Maybe the team wants to fill seats? Thx, Jay!
I haven't tried MLS Live during any games since I assume that is blacked out (and delayed by a minute or two). Is it blacked out?
Depends on where you are of course. The blackout area is much smaller this year. Most of non metro Maryland is not blacked out.
The way they played Saturday - that should have been blacked out if they want people to buy tickets for this week's game.
I saw the game. They played quite well ... up to actually scoring. For long periods, they clearly dominated play and put pressure on Toronto's goal.
I was able to get them to put it on at the Marriott Waterfront on 3 TV's, but no sound. It felt luxurious., even though the game was crap.
Possibly. Or he means that the story purposely screwed with the audience and he felt it was a gimmick. There could be validity in that sentiment, because it's become a quite popular story mechanism. Walking Dead has come back to that well a few times, though that show does it in a very different way that most people can probably excuse. GOT has also become known for it since season 1, and frankly, if it happens too much it would seem gimmicky to me. I've stopped watching where they left the books behind. Personally, I found the season 1 twist to be fully engrossing, which was clearly the author's intent in the book. Tell the reader a story from a certain POV, then turn that all upside. As a reader, it compels you to take it personally. I thought it was well done, at least, from a literal perspective. By time the show came along, it comes a little different I think. DC United should kill for such drama.
There are still some elements of ADWD that haven't made it to the show and will - so they haven't completely left the books behind. Also - that's all on GRRM. I've appreciated them as different beasts with different constraints and narrative limitations. james
That wasn't a diss on the show. And I should have said, where they went ahead of the books. I want to read the books, GRRM vision, first.
