Brazos Valley Cavalry defeated Texas United, 3-0, on Tuesday night. Cleburne also beat Houston FC, 3-2.

That makes the Mid-South Division standings look like this as of 7/10/18:
    Teams play 14 games.

    Standings
    1. Brazos Valley 13 g.p. 27 pts +20
    -----------------------------------------
    2. AHFC Royals 14 g.p. 21 pts +0
    ---------------------------------------
    3. Corpus Christi 13 g.p. 20 pts +1
    4. OKC Energy 11 g.p. 19 pts +10
    5. Texas United 13 g.p. 18 pts +3
    6. Cleburne 13 g.p. 13 pts -19
    7. Houston 13 g.p. 10 pts -14

That means that Brazos Valley (the Dynamo PDL affiliate) will clinch the division title if OKC fails to win any of their remaining 3 games or if Brazos Valley wins on Friday night.

The 2nd place team in the division can also possibly qualify for the Southern Conference playoffs as a wildcard. Royals are already eliminated from that but OKC is still in contention.

    Wildcard standings:

    1. (SE) SIMA Aguilas 12 g.p. 24 pts +12
    -------------------------------------------------------
    2. (DS) SC Utd Bantams 13 g.p. 23 pts +13
    3. (DS) MS Brilla 12 g.p. 22 pts +6
    4. (MS) OKC Energy U23 11 g.p. 19 pts +10

OKC beat Cleburne 3-0 on Thursday night.

That makes the Mid-South Division standings look like this as of 7/12/18:
    Teams play 14 games.

    Standings
    1. Brazos Valley 13 g.p. 27 pts +20
    -----------------------------------------
    2. OKC Energy 12 g.p. 22 pts +13
    ---------------------------------------
    3. AHFC Royals 14 g.p. 21 pts +0
    4. Corpus Christi 13 g.p. 20 pts +1
    5. Texas United 13 g.p. 18 pts +3
    6. Cleburne 14 g.p. 13 pts -22
    7. Houston 13 g.p. 10 pts -14

Brazos Valley can clinch tonight against Texas United. Even a tie might be enough but we'd still have to wait until OKC plays two more games this weekend.

The 2nd place team in the division can also possibly qualify for the Southern Conference playoffs as a wildcard. OKC is still in contention for that.

    Wildcard standings:

    1. (SE) The Villages 13 g.p. 27 pts +18
    -------------------------------------------------------
    2. (SE) Lakeland Tropics 13 g.p. 27 pts +11
    3.
    (MS) OKC Energy U23 12 g.p. 22 pts +13
    4. (DS) MS Brilla 12 g.p. 22 pts +6

SIMA Aguilas moved up into first in the Southeast Division so The Villages take over their Wildcard spot. Lakeland Tropics also moved up into contention for a spot.

Brazos Valley beat Texas United, 4-1, so they wrap up the Mid-South Division championship.

They will travel to South Georgia for the Southern Conference playoffs. The semifinals are on Friday, June 20, and the final is on June 21. At the moment the Cavalry are the #2 seed but they could fall to #3 depending on the results this weekend.

Region III minor league soccer has grown so much since the rather robust late 90's when back then teams were well stacked and had quality competition. 20 years on and it amazes me how strong the beautiful game is at this level of sport.
Then there is our region's high school scence, Elsik winning the 6A State title and USA Today's National Champions. As well as HISD Lee's regional championship at 5A.
Can we get these inner city footballers up our Houston Dynamo ranks and playing for their own city!!!
