In addition to her brand journalist duties, #CrewSC’s @Alex_Stec_ will also sideline report at select home matches. pic.twitter.com/jjlrSwYCxD— Tim Miller (@TimothyKMiller) March 11, 2016 Yeah, totally better than Ashleigh.
This isn't "local media" but I found it interesting, and it's not worth a thread. There was much talk about how the TV ratings for the opener were way down from a year ago, which is true BUT, per Paul Kennedy: "Of the three major networks, only the ESPN viewership for the Portland-Columbus rematch of MLS Cup 2015 was down significantly from its 2015 opening-day viewership (362,000 vs. 539,000), but that viewership for last year's Orlando City-NYCFC opener was an outlier. The viewership for Portland-Columbus -- featuring the No. 24 and No 31 television markets -- beat that of every other MLS regular-season game on ESPN in 2015." In other words, rather than being bad - as seemed to be the popular meme - the ratings were actually rather good. Comparing it to last year's NYCFC/Orlando "first game ever" hype is apples-and-oranges. Then there's this: "The Portland-Columbus game was the second-most streamed MLS game ever on WatchESPN"
10TV just had a clip of 3G and he says it's simple as to why they haven't been winning: "We've conceded goals we shouldn't be conceding and we're not scoring goals we should be scoring." Great insight from a guy who never tips his hand.
I'm not on the bandwagon that says she is good looking. She looks average there is nothing special or attractive about her.
Spending part of your time, modeling, and part of your time, next to meeeeeeeeee! And the rest of your time doing your normal job
Shawn has left the newspaper business. Tom Reed is on the beat until CBJ start. (He had previously done CBJ for the Dispatch before jumping to the Plain Dealer.) He's a soccer fan, much to the consternation of the Cavs and Browns fans that followed him on twitter when he did those beats for the PD. I don't know what the long-term plan is for the Dispatch, but Reed and Arace are on it for now. That's pretty damn good.
Ugh, Shawn Mitchell was the best. Took us through the glory days in '08. Ah, well. Tom Reed is here now.
Hunter has info on the Crew TV ratings in his Rumblings column today. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/sports/2016/08/26/bob-hunter-rumblings.html Key point: The Crew has been tracking with a 0.90 rating this season on Sinclair Broadcast Group stations — Channels 6, 28 and 53 — which translates into about 8,200 households. That represents a dramatic rise from the team’s 0.31 rating on Fox Sports Ohio in 2013, the last previous year in which the team’s broadcasts were metered.
This is what popped up when I looked up the Blue Jackets ratings, this was from 2015. http://www.bizjournals.com/columbus...ackets-tv-ratings-up-big-through-seasons.html So dead even with the Blue Jackets on Fox Sports (at least as of 2 years ago). Nice.
Also, of note, apparently the Crew wasn't all that far behind the Blue Jackets in terms of ratings, back in 2013 either.
