https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...arnold-unassuming-icon-liverpool-league-quest The local boy with more league assists this season than all except Kevin De Bruyne must be in the running for the PFA award In its 46 years, the PFA’s Player of the Year award has been given to 41 people, representing 15 clubs and 12 countries from England to Egypt. The winners have been young and old, tall and short, but they all have one thing in common: none of them have been full-backs. There is a lot of football still to be played this season but already it seems there is no doubt about the destiny of the title, and though there are several Liverpool players who will be in the discussion when the individual awards are handed out, I think based on the campaign so far Trent Alexander-Arnold is edging it.
Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold has been named December's Premier League player of the month, with Jurgen Klopp winning the managerial award for the fourth time this season. Klopp, 52, has equalled Pep Guardiola's record for most awards in a season. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51064780
Nice write up here - https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/01/11/liverpool-continues-historic-streak-clean-sheet-tottenham
Lampard won in October. In November Klopp won, and Mane got POTM in December Klopp won, and TAA got POTM https://www.premierleague.com/stats/awards?se=274&aw=-1
good article about Robbo (except for the bit saying he should have been sent off yesterday that is ) No one embodies the reckless joy of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool more than Andrew Robertson The 25-year-old simply never stops and could scarcely be more emblematic of the Premier League champions in waiting’s relentless march to the title https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/liverpool-fc-news-tottenham-result-player-ratings-andrew-robertson-a9281096.html
I like that almost every player and coach on the team has taken losing the title to City last year by 1 pt as a personal insult and are absolutely hell bent to make sure it doesn’t happen again this year. So far so good.

i had never heard of Lincoln Red Imps. They are in a 10 team league in Gibraltar. Apparently all the teams play in the same stadium. Capacity 2000
Liverpool have been shortlisted among the nominees in the Team of the Year and Comeback of the Year categories in the Laureus World Sports Awards. Jurgen Klopp's side - who won the Champions League in 2019 - are on a shortlist of six for Team of the Year. The Reds are in the Comeback of the Year category for overturning a 3-0 Champions League semi-final first-leg deficit by beating Barcelona 4-0. https://www.bbc.com/sport/51119390
Liverpool are likely to be without Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita for the start of 2021, with the Africa Cup of Nations set to be moved. Last year’s tournament was held in June and July, with Salah, Mane and Keita all back for pre-season with Liverpool—albeit the latter having suffered an injury. Now, however, the Reds could be left to plan without the African trio, with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) expected to announce that the AFCON will be moved back to winter. https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/...e-without-salah-mane-keita-for-start-of-2021/
you'd think African players would be against that - reduces their value to European clubs. but as usual the guys "running football" seem to exist in a world of their (self-serving short-term) own.
This x1000000000. That goes for any confederation tournament that does that, as well as confederations who can't figure out what year they want their 4-year cycle to be on, so you end up playing 4 in 8 years (*cough* *cough* CONEMBOL!).
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51126649 The decision to move the Africa Cup of Nations back to January could see more than 30 current Premier League players miss up to six matches and could "put managers off" making signings. "It definitely affects your thinking when it comes to signing African players," former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp told BBC World Service. "Invariably when they come back from the tournament, they're not the same. They don't seem to recover from the rigours of the Cup of Nations." Which players could your Premier League club be without next season? Based on internationals in current squads, and assuming all listed nations qualified: Arsenal - Pierre-Emerick Aubmaeyang (Gabon), Nicolas Pepe (Ivory Coast), Mohamed Elneny (Egypt - currently on loan at Besiktas) Aston Villa - Marvelous Nakamba (Zimbabwe), Trezeguet (Egypt), Jonathan Kodjia (Ivory Coast), Ahmed Elmohamady (Egypt) Brighton - Leon Balogun (Nigeria), Yves Bissouma (Mali), Gaetan Bong (Cameroon), Percy Tau (South Africa - currently on loan at Club Brugge) Crystal Palace - Jeffrey Schlupp (Ghana), Cheikhou Kouyate (Senegal), Jordan Ayew (Ghana), Wilfried Zaha (Ivory Coast) Everton - Alex Iwobi (Nigeria), Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Ivory Coast), Oumar Niasse (Senegal), Yannick Bolasie (DR Congo - currently on loan at Sporting Lisbon) Leicester City - Kelechi Ịheanachọ (Nigeria), Wilfred Ndidi (Nigeria), Daniel Amartey (Ghana), Islam Slimani (Algeria - currently on loan at Monaco), Rachid Ghezzal (Algeria - currently on loan at Fiorentina) Liverpool - Naby Keita (Guinea), Mohamed Salah (Egypt), Sadio Mane (Senegal).
