I've never been to Spain ( cue Hoyt Axton ) but my brother - who lives in Finland - went to A Coruna and Santiago de Compostela several years ago and said that the seafood was utterly amazing. S.de C is the capital of Galicia, apparently, and has a fairly grand cathedral. They speak Galician, which is a cousin of Portugues, more closely related to that language than to Spanish. So...the bad part, then.
Sounds like a great trip, I really love Spain. But no language barrier??? WH Spanish vs Castilian? I remember my first trip to Madrid, trying to get a fairly simple conversation going with a cab driver using my WH Spanish. It was like I was speaking Russian to him.
Wife has some family there and is also an immigration attorney with a number of clients from Spain, so she's a little more used to it. I'll admit I had difficulty at times but it was nothing that couldn't be worked around.
Castilian is a breeze compared to Catalan. It just requires getting your ear attuned to the variances, mostly.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jamie-carragher-reveals-daniel-sturridge-10570034 Obviously Carragher is going to be called out on his comments by Sturridge, what did he expect? IMO Carragher should not even make such comments if he considers himself part of the lfc entourage to some extent
but - if he wants to retain any semblance of neutrality as a pundit he has to say less-than-complimentary things about LFC from time to time. although he has always called it like it is for his whole career (eg a few years back - his classic answer to the question "what do Liverpool need to win the league Jamie?" "Better players."). though tbh I can't see his comments as particularly negative in that piece.
That hike OK pilgrimage was on my bucket list for a long time. I've left it too late now. I've visited southern Spain a few times over the years since 1960 and loved it. Even drove from Liverpool a couple of times in the 60s before it became the popular thing to do and they fixed the roads.
Good article about Stevie and his new role. https://www.thisisanfield.com/2017/...ing-anti-academy-players-jurgen-klopps-squad/
http://www.football365.com/news/wilkins-criticises-salah-deal-and-liverpool-priorities Wilkins used to be a 'forward thinking ' coach but over a period of a few seasons he's been off his game.....Liverpool needed a Salah type player in the mix, particularly with CL congestion
http://www.football365.com/news/liverpool-should-sign-giroud-suggests-saunders Explayers say the darnest things....and saunders is also quoted as saying 'John Terry is the best signing so far'
http://www.planetfootball.com/nostalgia/comparing-liverpool-team-houllier-inherited-one-passed-rafa/ That age old debate of GH's team Feck me that was 19 years ago.....I feel bare old
http://www.football365.com/news/would-keita-and-van-dijk-make-liverpool-more-daunting Strange how a website start with the heading about Liverpool & players they haven't bleeding signed yet & the hyperthetical affect on the team
Very good sit down with Klopp from Reddy http://www.goal.com/story/inside-the-managerial-mind-of-liverpools-jurgen-klopp/index.html
Gah! Beat me to it... just discovered this myself and was going to post about it. Makes for a nice read.
Let's get something straight. Liverpool (when Houllier took over) had come close to dominating the premiership twice in the previous seasons. They were an exciting attacking side. 4 years later they were a laughing stock, achieving levels of boredom amongst anyone unlucky enough to be trapped into having to be a spectator............ Id it hadn't been for Michael Owen and Patrik Berger Houllier would have been out on his idiot arse years sooner .....
Zaq has a thing against Houllier. I for one, loved that season, and all those finals--especially the UEFA Cup Final against Alaves that ended 5-4 if memory serves.
you have NO idea how much, mate. don't fed the beast is my advice .... you'll get tired of the subject years before he does.
Interesting take on the impact of adding Salah to the Liverpool attack, and some of the potential fall out on Coutinho's role in the team. http://www.football365.com/news/without-coutinho-klopps-liverpool-front-three-is-perfect
We still need quality in depth to compete on the [at least] two basic fronts that matter. By the way, I've heard whispers that Origi may be on his way to Marseille ...
