Well - hopefully the Bitters will be overconfident as usual and then we can give them their seasonal beating. Plus we need the 3 points.

    ---------------Alisson--------------
    AA----Gomez----VvD---Robertson
    ------Shaq-----Fab------Keita
    ----Salah---Firmino----Mane

*I could see Bobby on the bench for this - which then makes the team selection difficult because then maybe we need to start Sturridge which doesn't leave us much on the bench.

    Formation 2:

    ---------alisson---------
    AA--Gomez--VVD--Robertson
    Gini----Fab-----Keita
    Shaq----Salah----Mane

I’d like to see that midfield eventually, but I doubt Klopp changes all three at once. I think he goes with Gini/Milner/Keita. That’s the three that started the season and our midfield was actually a strength in our first few games.

I agree. Recall when Lovren was hooked at half-time at Spurs? We all thought that was the immediate end of him but he was back next match. It was however the beginning of a managed phasing out to the bench even though Klopp still thinks he can do a decent job.

Since Henderson is out through suspension, that will probably be the change.

Should be a win, no reason to expect anything else even though Everton's attackers are doing pretty well so far this season... I feel like I can't even remember the last time Everton had this number of decent attacking threats? Not that it makes them scary as LFC should control the match, but they need to be very mindful of the counter.

They've scored as many this season as Man United, and a mere 6 fewer than LFC! Hm, that's interesting.

well, since shaq, Fab and Keita are not going to start the derby all at the same time, the bench will bea bit stronger!!! ;)

I think it's be Milner, Fab and Gini.....
(Actually vs Everton you don't need as much creativity- as they will be charging into us and leaving gaps,,,,)

It's really time to get Keita up to speed, I agree. He's got to start. Hendo's out, so that means Fabinho in. And pick your other guy.

Perhaps this could be in LFC History as well but given the derby, wanted to share here: great TIA read recounting the derby at Goodison in 1962 from the viewpoint of a Red. Really brings you into the rivalry through the eyes of a Scouser. I reckon it was written by @usscouse himself ;)

I, as usual, worry about our pedestrian midfield yielding territory and opportunities. So, at this stage, just win.

Hmm, not great literature but well yeah!

I was on the Kop for both those matches. The first was Ian St John's debut. We lost 4-3 but we were more thrilled with the Saints hattrick. I remember a comment from a guy as we were leaving. "He was to bloody ecclesiastical for them."

Everton started playing the sea chanty Jonny Todd that year. About a Liverpool lad who went to sea to earn money to marry. When he returned his girl had Married someone else.

Good song and another reason for the Bitters being bitter.

Funny thing. It's also Watford's theme as well, from the same year as Everton. Why? Because the owner liked it. I was surprised recently when I heard it there again.

It was also the theme song for the police drama Z (Zed) Cars that took place around Kirkby and Liverpool.
Nobody tells you why Z cars but I can. The cars were Ford Zodiacs. Wheeeee!!!

At this juncture, there are no easy matches. Every contest is a marathon. The all too frequent phenomenon of shipping goals in the closing minutes of the second half cannot hold a place in the rest of the season.

Still no start for Keita. Lovren doesn't even make the bench. I wonder if he's injured because Klopp usually prefers him for the big games.

The choice of the 4-2-3-1 system means that Klopp goes with Fabinho and Shaqiri. Those two never start when we go 4-3-3. Milner never starts in a 4-2-3-1. Gini starts no matter what. Keita has only played in the 4-3-3, but lately he doesn't play at all.
