One game at a time, and now this game has arrived. Porto has a very good attacking 6/7 which is better than most of what we have faced in the premier league this season but similar to what has undone us in Europe. Need to cut off passing lanes and support the front three when attacking. Watch out the turnover and quick counter.
Probably, but wouldn’t be shocked if he went Moreno. I hope that we plan to get after them in this first leg and I wouldn’t want to give up the attacking threat on the left wing. With Virgil covering for Moreno we might be able to get away with his defensive shortcomings. Plus he might want Milner in midfield. It all depends on what Klopp sees from Moreno in training.
how Moreno trains isn't really the issue. he has a lot of the skills needed, has experience and god knows he can run like a machine. but he's an accident waiting to happen. in training that will never show up, since there's no pressure, and pressure is what produces his mistakes.
Interesting that Klopp had Moreno on the bench Friday hoping to get him some minutes, but I expect he'll go Milner at LB and midfield of Hendo/Fab/Keita.
Moreno's been on the bench for the past 4-5 (?) games. I think his tracktop has "Open Only In Case Of Emergency" stitched into it.
Maybe this is not a match in which to ******** around, but I could see the logic of Moreno playing this one. LFC should dominate this match regardless of what the LB is doing, and I think if Porto are going to score it's going to be because of a breakdown in CB or CDM rather than at LB. But I've said similar things before. It's a gamble, but with Milner and Gini needing a bit of rest to take us home (is Ox even going to really feature this year?) I think it might be a gamble worth taking. That said I expect Klopp to play Milner at LB.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Origi play a part tomorrow. not saying he'd start - though resting Bobby might not be a terrible thing - but off the bench maybe.
I forgot Pepe was dumped by Real. I remember this thug crying foul when we trashed him and Real in our run for our 5th, he won't play though. I like Iker, he played for Real at age 18. Porto train at Anfield as Iker Casillas and Co get ready to face Liverpool in Champions League quarter-final Porto have plenty of experience among their ranks, with goalkeeper Iker Casillas and centre back Pepe boasting 272 senior international caps between them. Both men trained but Pepe will not play. Full Story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Anfield-Iker-Casillas-prepare-Liverpool.html
Let's just keep that confidence going. Won't stop me having a squeaky bum on Tuesday though. 'The boys are on fire.... you can see it in the way they train': Jurgen Klopp insists his stars are ready for thrilling finale to the season as they prepare for Champions League quarter-final clash with Porto Liverpool’s confidence is soaring after dramatic late wins against Spurs and Southampton propelled them to the top of the league and they are favourites to reach the Champions League semis. There's too much positivity about Liverpool among the talking heads today. I hope the players and management take no heed of that as it normally heralds a fall; read any match against low to mid table premier league teams. Or, gulp, against Red Star Belgrade. As burning said, do not give away goals-- we've been a bit careless of late-- and make sure we score some.
yeah I feel the same way. all the media have completely dismissed Porto. no time for complacency from anyone at LFC.
I think we as fans listen to these guys much more than the players/coaches , I hope so anyway. I'm sure Klopp will have them focussed on the task at hand today. My main concern is having no Robbo at lb ie how much that might impact on our attacking down the left side and whether Porto have a pacey wide man who may trouble Milner.
a couple of Porto's CL stats ... Two of the three players to have covered the most distance this season are Porto players. Midfielder Hector Herrera has travelled just over 94km (58.4 miles) on the pitch during the Champions League this season - with Porto team-mate Danilo, a full-back, third Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is the top scorer left in the Champions League, on eight - alongside Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, whose side are out. Ajax's Dusan Tadic and Porto's Moussa Marega are next on six. Ten Porto players have shared their 19 goals Porto have committed the most fouls overall (124)
Moreno should start tonight, according to this .... https://www.footballfancast.com/pre...oreno-should-be-trusted-to-play-against-porto
Milner all day long for me I would imagine we will see a midfield of Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Henderson Keita and Origi off the bench in the second half if we need a goal I expect this to be a tight match and would settle for a 2-0 win.
