If that's not a foul I don't know what is. The fact the ref looked to his linesman when he had the best view is a joke. You're the boss, grow a pair and blow the whistle. In spite of that 3 points and a clean sheet against Rafa's relegation side. Job done.
After a straightforward win, I’m left fuming at the referee. How has he ignored 2 clear fouls against Salah? The Egyptian king was unstoppable once again. Another great game for Ox. It’s crucial that we have a midfield player that can connect with the front 3. He was the man again. His bursts through the center started many of our attacks and he made the first goal. Mane has now scored 5 in 3 games. Bobby Firmino with a great assist. A clean sheet. Football is so easy for Virgil that he can do his own job while telling everyone else how to do their’s. Karius is full of confidence. His save just before halftime was the best we’ve seen in a while.
Lots of MOTM candidates. That Karius save before the half was massive. If they go in tied at the half it could be a very different second half tactically and for Newcastle's confidence.
A win...three more points and back in to 2nd place - even if only temporarily. Next up is Porto in the CL, at Anfield - and we’re already ahead 5-0...
It’s unbelievable that referees in the same league gave penalties against us in the Everton and Spurs game, yet there was no penalty and then no red card at the end of the match today. At least today it didn’t cost us 2 points. VAR sucks, but we clearly can’t trust the ref to get it right.
And also Mo has only scored one penalty. How many of Kane’s and Messi’s goals are penalty kicks? I could think of at least one Kane penalty that robbed us in stoppage time.
He'd be ahead of that English guy who plays for some team in North London too if given the pen and if said Brit was not given the gift pen at Anfield. The Egyptian King is unstoppable!
The Everton,Spurs and Chelsea Home Draws and a few others on the road converted to Wins would have seen us hot on the heels of City...Oh Well!!!!! Few take aways from the Game: Mo is a Special special Player and lets enjoy him,Keep him and unlike Torres,Suarez and Coutinho lets use his talent to push us across the line for that Elusive First Premier League Title. Can is such a Physical beast at times and seeing him outmuscle and outhustle the Newcastle players at the end makes me wish we somehow keep him. Lovren looks so much better with someone holding his hand, excellent intuitive defender but struggles when he needs to be the main man but looks at ease with Vvd by his side. Our Fullbacks are finally looking set and Trent's A Future Liverpool Captain. Why was Klopp so Pissed whilst we were Winning comfortably,Was it the Cold? Lets Win the CL and reach 82 points for the Season.YNWA.
FT 2-0 to Liverpool Guess I will give the MOTM to Salah. Got the first goal and ran all night as the outlet. 2nd Hard Bobby. Great assist for Mane. Back tackling all over the pitch. Ox had a really good assist for Salah and a good all action shift Mane took his goal very well and was excellent all over Can works very, very hard still seems to take a bit longer no on the ball. That’s obvious because Henderson works as hard tackling but moves the ball much more quickly Neither fullback a great day. Both made good tackles but the passing we have come to expect was a bit off Lovren and VVD hadnt much to do but they did it splendidly. Karius — you can see why Klopp favors him. Had one save to make, and not an easy one at all, and he made it. In addition he is really good as a keeper/sweeper. Subs gave us a few good minutes. Porto with a big lead and then the Mancs. Second until Monday. YNWA
The lack of red card on the last foul against Salah reeks of ineptness and corruption (yes ok a bit overboard). Clear cut goal scoring opportunity and one of the worst cynical fouls I've seen. He pushed and tripped him in plain sight.
You hit the nail on the head there about lack of consistency. Until football agrees on what is and what isn’t a foul, VAR isn’t worth a damn, though.
I don't remember where the head official was in relationship to the place where the foul occurred, but the idea that the line judge wasn't able to make the correct call is horrific. If some governing body doesn't indicate that there was an error made, that's worse than the lack of a correct call. But we know that won't happen. It's probably because Klopp is German. Treaty of Versailles 2.0...get it, get it???
