Nathaniel Clyne makes his first Premier League appearance of the season as Liverpool take on Manchester United at Anfield this afternoon. The full-back replaces the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold in defence, with James Milner also ruled out as a precaution due to a muscle issue. Jürgen Klopp makes four changes to his starting line-up in total as Dejan Lovren, Fabinho and Naby Keita are named in the XI, too. Liverpool: Alisson, Clyne, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Mane, Salah, Firmino. Subs: Mignolet, Henderson, Sturridge, Moreno, Lallana, Shaqiri, Camacho.

Darmian, Dalot, and Young are all fullbacks. Why do they need 3 of them? Must be a back 5. It must be a joy to play for a magager who benches his most talented players for extra fullbacks in the game that the whole world is watching. We will need patiently pick them apart and not get frustrated by their negative tactics.
He has a slight muscle problem. No way Clyne would be starting if Milner was available. If we are chasing a goal, I bet Klopp brings on Camacho as a more attacking option at fullback.
What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here?!? Milner is always fit! And I did a double-take when I saw Clyne in the starting 11.
why all the stress over clyne? yes he is short of fitness but jeez, not long ago he was our first choice, and England RB. it's not like he's never played in big games before ...
I may have been tempted to play Fabinho at rb rather than Clyne but Klopp obviously sees these guys in training every day so must feel Clyne can do the job.
Ideally you'd like to see Clyne get some minutes under his belt and work his way back in rather than starting a game cold like this .
but hendo's on the bench so may still be feeling the Napoli game. I'm good with today's line up. (watch Clyne eff up big time, now I've said that of course ....)
