That would be a total waste... considering the degree to which Naby is great with the ball he needs to have it as often as possible when it's not in the attacking third. Like Coutinho.
Such comparisons between Keita and the other two players aren't useful. He's so much better offensively than they are.
Keita is 22 - and will most-likely only get better and that includes offensive output. But in the first instance - we need him to come in and hit the ground running as an all-action midfielder. Positive - Guinea isn't in the WC so he will have a full summer with Klopp.
If Coutinho were more all-action perhaps the backline this season would have had a little more support! Either way, if the 4-3-3 persists it would be a waste to have Naby sit back. With his dribbling and passing, he should be tagged for that 8/10 role. No one in LFC's midfield can dribble like him.
I doubt if he'll become a better reaction shot-stopper...... Is (for example) the Man City keeper better than Mignolet? I guess I don't really see much difference between Mignolet and most of the other goalkeepers in the Prem or Spain (not watching the german or italian League too closely) other than Neuer De Gea Courtouis Cech Ter Stegen and the Frenchie at spurs and Caspar .... Caspar - now thwere's a thought....
I have seen it a few times. But usually when the striker has more goal on either side to aim at..... I think I saw Batistuta do it in a Copa America final....
In that particular case, a shot (low) was "on", so blasting him for taking it(high) shouldn't be the case, but he had just been a tad greedy when hitting the outside of the post seconds before when he did have the killer pass option really on....
I'd leave well enough alone with our full backs ......Moreno and Robertson both played really well this year.
2 years ago there was a big difference in terms of Mignolet's authority when coming for crosses (I think he's improved this) and his distribution, as well as general decision-making and awareness... who could forget him stepping He's poor with his feet for the most part and by all accounts isn't that much of a leader, isn't that vocal. But he's a better shot-stopper than many.
So, he's better than Joe Hart these last 3 years? But not by much? Mignolet was asked to make a number of saves to ensure top 4 during the run in last season and he made a lot of them. Pointless to compare him to Oblak or Alisson or DDG... if there were any chance of them coming, I'd be all for it. I welcome a comparison with the actual rest of the league. But I also don't really find value in xG stats when comparing keepers? There's a lot involved in a defense conceding, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
The point is to show he's not a good shot stopper as he saves less than he should be expected to save.
That's fine. It also says Karius has been the better shot stopper this year. Since it can't account for what an xG is or how they come about, and since I've seen every minute this season, I definitely disagree.
A I've said before, neither are good enough for a title winning team. Karius is young so could potentially still improve. Best option is to buy a top class No.1 if available.
As far as netminders are concerned, I'm concerned with how they handle PKs and free kicks. Some shots are unstoppable. And is there a metric for spilling shots? Reina spoilled us.
Why did Mignolet nosedive when coming to FC? This issue is bigger than one position. Which is why I'm glad they got VVD, which is why I'm happy with Robertson, and hopefully they will be deciding between upgrading 6 or 1 (or doing both) this summer. It's a big issue, it needs to be addressed in the aggregate. Fortunately they're doing that.
I know it's some way back but I keep coming back to the OP in this thread. Liverpool fans can be good with their language, what? 4-3 flattered City. https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=338791.0
