Was able to sneak away for this match but have been completely sleep deprived of late, but this sure as hell woke me up. What a performance. All over the pitch, we were just better than they were. Two individual mistakes (Gomez and Lovren) gifted them two goals that made the scoreline respectable (granted we were gifted one, too). Some real positivity now! Our record without Cout is superb and while some depth in CM would be nice, we have the horses to secure a finish in the top 4. We're 8 points ahead of 6th place l'arse and only two out from second. We are favorites in our round of 16 CL tie, and have a chance to make noise in the competition. Oh, and we have Klopp, a manager that players want to play for. And a manager whose record in the transfer market has been pretty spot on for us - and who has a hell of a lot more money to spend this summer if he wants it. Three points at the Swans now. Onwards and upwards lads!
And I just went over to the PL clubs section of BS to see if this match may have attracted some interest on the citeh boards only to see that their last post was in July of 2017...
My pupils are singing and humming this all the time.We may have spawned a new generation of Liverpool fans.
it was a complete stop. he actually, for a split second, stands absolutely still. can't recall ever seeing that before. Mr Cool.
Sad! A Manc is still a Manc. Regardless of the flavour. Remember, before the Arabs they were the bitter side of that shithole. Ooops!!!
Yup. I think the Ox is going to be the Coutinho replacement. Doesn't have the trickery but can be just as effective in assists and more effective defensively.
You folks who know tactics better than I can help me here, but Cout played primarily on the left but was always cutting into the middle, putting more pressure on our left back to cover that ground. Perhaps part of the reason why Moreno was so often caught upfield - he was trying (perhaps too earnestly?) to fill that wide left zone offensively. So I don't see anyone being the 'next Cout' because whoever it is won't play the same way, and Klopp will adjust accordingly. The improvement of Moreno and emergence of Robertson makes this less of an issue going forward, too. It also becomes increasingly important in my eyes, to re-sign Can. He covers a lot of ground.
Moreno only has 2 years on his contract left - wonder if he's a guy we look to sell and bring someone in, or look to a youth player. Even with his resurgence - I'm not quite sure he is what Klopp wants.
Sell him and get a replacement to challenge Robertson. Still have Milner in a pinch as well. Moreno's defensive awareness has little to do with Coutinho, he just is always looking to get forward. He's left the back line out to dry on counters, for instance. He is who he is at this point. Klopp may like him, so maybe he sticks around. If I'm in charge, I move on. Naby is the Coutinho replacement. He won't shoot as much I don't think, but he's the player that will facilitate counters and lead the transition from midfield to attack. He's perfectly suited to the 8/10 role Coutinho had been playing in this season.
Now that Phil has left, Moreno is Bobby's best mate so he gets to stay until we buy some more Brazilians.
******** is that true? OK. Sign him up. Give him a clause that says every time he scores Bobby gets another 75k.
