I think Klopp will make a lot of changes, but still field a strong team. Winning is a habit and we don’t want to see that winning streak end. We also don’t want to throw away a chance to win a trophy. I’m sure Chelsea will make a lot of changes as well. It’s hard to predict the team. Clyne, Matip, Moreno, Fabinho, Keita, Shaquiri, and Sturridge could all use a start. Lovren and Lallana may or may not be fit in time. Solanke and Origi will want to be involved as well. I think he sticks with Allison and Mingolet misses out.

The good news is these days we can change 6 or 8 players and still field a very competitive side.

    So what's the likely line-up?

My guess (assuming no formation change):

    Mignolet

    Clyne ..... Matip ..... Gomez .... Moreno

    Jones ..... Fabinho ..... Keita

    Shaqiri ..... Sturridge ..... Origi/Solanke

    Bench: Strong!

That's still a better than average Prem team?

Might work better with a MF diamond (XS at tip) and two up top?

I suspect this is about right. With VVD injury does Gomez gets risked?

first league cup game last year was a loss to leicester. looked at the lineup and the only player that was a starter at the time was henderson. Coutinho started, but i think that might have been his first match back from the "back injury". So, i think that will be his same MO. Also, we have we more players available to play in games like this, so, like everyone else, i anticipate wholesale changes. perfect game for Fab and shaq to start. Lovren might be ready to play, so no need to risk gomez.

I think we'll see one of Hendo or Millie to start in MF. maybe Jones to sub in if we're in control......

Jones is an interesting shout in the midfield.

Nat Phillips might be on the bench as a CB as well.

Perhaps. I guess it depends on what he wants to do on the weekend and in Europe. Milner the more likely considering he only played 45 at the weekend and assuming Fabinho gets his chance.

Jones didn't play in either of the academy games this weekend so you'd expect he's in the squad.

I would leave Allison in as he was bored in the last match :)

As much as it could mean leaving the competition early, I think we have bigger fish to fry this season. The main objective has to be mounting a serious league title challenge and maybe even to win it.

    I would go with:

    Mignolet
    Clyne Matip Phillips Moreno
    Fabinho
    Jones Keita
    Shaqiri
    Sturridge Solanke

If Lovren and Origi are fit, I would play them insted of Phillips and Solanke. The same applies to Lallana, switching to a 4-3-3 alongside Shaqiri and Sturridge.
Just my opinion, of course. I actually don't see Klopp resting too many players.

I doubt anyone but bench players will lose any sleep if we lose, although the fact that we play Chelsea on Saturday adds a bit of a twist - would be good to hammer them on Wed.

I understand the logic of prioritizing the other competitions, but finally LFC is at a place where they can be about getting to finals consistently and maybe winning some trophies again. As long as they field a better 11 than Chelsea, I'm fine with whatever else happens.

As others have said, seems a great opportunity to get Fabinho, Keita, Shaqiri & Danny on the pitch together. Those guys should be raring to go, and depending on what Chelsea looks like that should probably be enough to win this one... assuming the backline plays capably.

If it wasn’t for quarter finals in December, 2 legged semis in Jan and if we didn’t feel inclined to have all first teamers play those games this would be a fine competition. Should make it just for teams who aren’t in Europe.

I’m not to focused on this match. I wanna see us go in and get some playing time for guys like Fabinho, Keita, and Shaqiri and for us to come away with no injuries.

Always had a soft spot for this trophy. Saw us win it live every time 81-84 including two draws and two replays!

I think we'll see a number of changes but perhaps not as wholesale as some are predicting. I think Klopp will go strong again for this one. Alisson , Clyne Matip. Gomez .Robbo. Milner. Fabinho . Keita. Shaq . Studge. Mane

Klopp said Migs is going to start. Lovren is ready, Lallana not. Solanke fit, but Origi is not. It won't be 11 changes from the weekend and it will be a strong team.

"Dejan looks quite good, trained completely normal four times I think," said Klopp. "Had a very intense period before that with fitness guys. He looks ready.

Given the three matches ahead, and given how important Milner has been so far this year, I really don't want to see him play tomorrow.

Love that we could throw out a "B-team" tomorrow and I'd still fancy our chances. Very deep bench.

    Migs
    Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Moreno
    Fabihno - Keita - Milner
    Salah - Sturridge - Shaq

(I think her plays Salah to get his confidence and rhythm going)

    Solanke first off the bench

    This :D

Apparently Hazard will be part of their squad, but most likely benched. Although I would take a defeat tomorrow and a win on Saturday, it would be brilliant to beat them twice without risking too many important players tomorrow.
