No VVD for this one... question is do we weaken our midfield by moving Fabinho to centre half or go with Lovren (if fit)...

    —————-Bobby-————
    Mane—————————Salah
    ——Keita—Hendo—Gino——
    Robbo—Fabinho—Matip—TAA
    —————-Alison—————

Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Milner, Lallana, Shaqiri, Origi, Sturridge

Hmm Lovren and Matip together don’t always inspire confidence but at least both are dedicated centre-halves. Let’s try and play players in correct positions as much as possible.

That is the question. I would go with Lovren, but who knows if he is fit. Klopp has 10 days and a training camp in Spain to work with whatever back 4 he plans on picking.

The good news is that we are playing at Anfield so should be on the front foot. Hopefully our centerbacks don’t let us down.

Don't watch much BL, but from what I saw of Bayern the last couple weeks, James is at the center of all they do. He sure was yesterday and he's back playing at a very high level. did take him a while to get into the side though, didn't it?

Seemed like with James there, more of their attack goes thru the middle than previously when Robben/Ribery were dominant. Wonder if we'll see them on the wings?

I don't feel good about being at home without VVD. Hate the idea of a second leg in Germany possibly an away goal down.

On the bright side. Screw them. We'll win anyway. :)

Anyone know why VVD not available to play in the CL against Bayern? It is international duty where he has to go back to Netherlands? I'm confuse, because I see he still fit playing in the league matches.

oh yeah, I just about to type that, it been a while back so I forgot. It the yellow card against Italy Napoli.

I think Liverpool will go through, because Klopp got alot of experience with Bayern and he Germany himself. I'm sure he will get the lineups and tactics right. If the players show up, it be fine.

Bayern without Mueller for both legs so will ideally start with

    ................Lewa..................
    Coman....James.....Gnabry
    .....Goretzka....Thiago........
    Alaba....................Kimmich
    .....Hummels......Sule..........

Trent and Robbo will have their hands full with the pace of Coman and Gnabry and it’s definitely a 50/50 game to be decided by the finest of fine margins...I still back Liverpool to get through by the odd goal in the tie but Bayerns quality won’t be underestimated by Klopp for sure.

Saw the same, this only about the 3rd time I had seen them but they looked pretty good. Having said that not sure how much of it was Bayern being good or Schalke being absolute s***. City should have an easy time of it.

One silver lining was Bayern looked vulnerable to the counter.

I think LFC can win that midfield battle, and from that foothold go on to win the match. But the issue will really be not allowing any away goals IMO... that will be the tough job. 1-0 or the wonderful 2-0, that's what they need to take to Germany then kill them on the counter.

Without Van Dijk - and then Lovren who hasn’t played in a month plus - yeah it could be ugly in terms of goals.

Bayern CB's are not in good form and Neuer has been out with a thumb injury (he's expected to play this weekend).

I don't see either team holding a shutout

Wonder what is behind the scheduling here. It'll be about 10 days from our last match to this one. Then the next Sunday we play manure. Nice that we get some time for players to heal.
Come Easter we'll be so backed up that we'll be playin 3 matches a week again.
I hate these long delays between games.

somewhere about 5+ years ago or so - UEFA realized they could milk the CL even more (MAKE MORE MONEY - which of course does help the teams make more too) by splitting up the games into 4 weeks. If you recall when we were in it regularly with Rafa - all the Rd 16 games were on Tues/Wed of the same 2 weeks and the bars would be packed with fans of all the teams.

Reading that Lovren didn't go to Spain , not a good sign that he'll be ready for Bayern.
