Liverpool Academy striker Bobby Duncan is certainly living up to the hype. The 17-year-old frontman, who is Steven Gerrard's cousin, has bagged eight goals in eight domestic matches since his summer move from Manchester City. His latest strike was the sweetest to date as his last-minute winner stunned his former club at the Kirkby Academy. Teed up by Abdi Sharif, the England youth international took a touch to steady himself and hammered home in clinical fashion to seal a dramatic 1-0 victory in the Under-18 Premier League. Barry Lewtas' side have now won six domestic matches on the bounce and sit second in the table – just a point behind leaders Everton. Born in Whiston, Duncan grew up in Huyton and now lives with his family in Prescot. The lifelong Liverpool fan realised a dream when he signed for the club this summer. His career had been in limbo for nearly a year after rejecting City's offer of a professional contract as he didn't believe there was a pathway to the first team at the Etihad. City continued to hold his registration and he was effectively without a club for most of last season. At one stage Liverpool feared it would be difficult to sign Duncan as a tribunal could have led to a fee in excess of £1million. However, lengthy negotiations between the clubs finally resulted in compensation of around £200,000 being agreed back in June. Duncan had also attracted interest from the likes of Tottenham, Juventus, Monaco and Roma but his heart was set on playing for Liverpool and he hasn't looked back since arriving for pre-season in July.

Ben Woodburn starts for Lfc U23s v Derby today. He hasn’t been recalled from his loan at Sheffield United. But chance for him to get some much needed game time.--(James Pearce)
Well Sheff Utd have a very good side this year which is the problem for Ben. Tied on points with Boro at the top of the table and apparently their starters form is making it difficult for the coach to drop them. Sounds similar to the situation with us where Klopp has pretty much stuck with the same guys most of the season so far.
Woody is very slight - hasn't filled out at all yet - and the Championship is a very physical league for a young'un.
It's also a league where skills are not actively encouraged-- see how Ryan Kent was distrusted at Bristol-- in the quest for promotion. Talking of sprogs, Liverpool overcame Red Star Belgrade. We battered RSB but couldn't force a goal, fell behind and then recovered to win 2-1. Awesome all round displays.
