Heading back to Switzerland next month. I'm thinking about going to see the Liechtenstein-Sweden match, but I'm not sure if it's worth it since Liechtenstein has nothing to play for.
Oy, that's rough. I could see them pulling off a victory over Macedonia at home, but I think we'll see about 5 points from those 10 matches. What happened with that whole Nations League thing? I thought that was going to start soon. I was hoping Liechtenstein would face off against more equal competition.

Really good campaign from die Blaurot. Got a big win against Moldova and then held them to a draw, and an even more surprising draw to Montenegro. This is only the second time in their history that they have not finished last in their qualifying group. Their World Cup qualifying group is really tough, and they will need to do well in order to gain any points. Hopp Liechtenstein!!
Liechtensteiner Cup (thanks to WIKI) Quarterfinals[ The four winners of the Second Round, along with the semifinalists in the last season (FC Vaduz, USV Eschen/Mauren, FC Vaduz II (U23) and FC Triesenberg), competed in the quarterfinals. 27 October 2015 FC Ruggell II 0–6 USV Eschen/Mauren 3 November 2015 FC Ruggell 0–4 FC Vaduz 4 November 2015 FC Balzers II 1–0 FC Vaduz U23 FC Schaan 3–2 (a.e.t.) Liechtensteiner Cup SemiFinals 05.04. 12:30 Eschen : Vaduz 1 : 2 06.04. 13:00 Balzers B : Schaan 2 - 3 (2 - 2) After Pen.
I remember a few years ago when Vaduz did not win the Cup. That was a surprise. If they were to loose to Schaan and get relegated from the RSL in the same season, that might be the worst season in the history of the club!
That was 2012 when they lost to Eschen/Mauren. The form just isn't there for Vaduz right now, but they should at least be able to beat Schaan for Cup 44.
May 4 Vaduz vs Schaan Vaduz going for their world record 44th Cup victory. Schaan, currently playing in the 7th tier of the Swiss football pyramid, is playing in their first final since 1994, when they defeated FC Balzers 3-0 to win their 3rd title. Winner goes to the first round of the UEFA Europa League.
Vaduz barely squeaks by Schaan 11-0 to win their world record 44th Lichtenstein Cup. It was the largest margin of victory in the 71-year-history of the Liechtenstein Cup., besting the previous record by 2 goals. Vaduz will enter the Europa League First Qualifying Round in July 2016. 11' Mauro Caballero 1:0 13' Mauro Caballero 2:0 20' Albion Avdijaj 3:0 30' Axel Borgmann 4:0 43' Ali Messaoud 5:0 45' Mauro Caballero 6:0 68' Manuel Sutter 7:0 78' Mauro Caballero 8:0 81' Pascal Schürpf 9:0 85' Manuel Sutter 10:0 90' Nicolas Hasler 11:0
I wouldn't say they barely stayed up. 8th place is an incredible finish for this team. They finished 6th in second half points above FCSG, Lugano, and FCZ. They earned their right to stay up by winning three and drawing one of their last 6 matches, never really looking outmatched in any of them. I'm really looking forward to seeing who they bring in over the summer. They'll get a mini break before Europa League begins again. After last year's run to the third round (and only going out on stupid away goals), I'm hoping they can build on that.
Vaduz added another piece. Gonzalo Zarate joins after being released by Thun. Suffice to say, after he put up good numbers playing for GCZ, his scoring touch has almost disappeared. In his last three seasons, he's scored 5, 2, and 0 goals respectively. Maybe he can find some magic with Vaduz who will need help scoring goals with Sadiku going back to FCZ. He's the third signing so far. He joins 18-year-old Maximilian Goppel, formerly of FC Balzers, and 28-year-old Marco Mathys, who is joining from rivals St. Gallen. Vaduz also have 6 players on loan who will be going back: Gulen (GCZ), Fekete (YB), Costanzo (YB), Untersee (Juventus), Sadiku (FCZ), Caballero (Porto). Only players I could see staying are Untersee and Caballero. I'm not sure if they're willing to buy Costanzo. They're a little thin in the center of defense. I'd like to see them try to get Gulen again for a full season on loan. Sandro Wieser was released from Thun, as well. I'd love to see him return home and help anchor this midfield.
Here is the roster for the friendly against Iceland on Monday GK Peter Jehle GK Cengiz Biçer GK Benjamin Büchel GK Thomas Hobi DF Daniel Kaufmann DF Martin Rechsteiner DF Seyhan Yildiz DF Daniel Brändle DF Mathias Sele DF Pascal Foser DF Maximilian Göppel DF Andreas Malin MF Martin Büchel MF Michele Polverino MF Nicolas Hasler MF Sandro Wieser MF Robin Gubser MF Sandro Wolfinger MF Luca Ritter MF Aron Sele FW Dennis Salanović FW Niklas Kieber FW Marcel Büchel FW Philipp Ospelt FW Armando Heeb FW Fabio Wolfinger Hobi, Foser, Goppel, Malin, Ritter, Sele, and Wolfinger would be making their senior team debuts if they were to enter the match at some point. This is a fairly young lineup being put out there by Pauritsch. Only 6 players are 27 or older. Good opportunity to blood some of the younger guys to see what they have. HOPP LIECHTENSTEIN!!
Europa League - 2016 Vaduz has drawn FK Sileks of Macedonia. FK Sileks finished 3rd in the Macedonian First League. Vaduz will host the first leg on 30 June, while Sileks will host the second leg on 7 July. If Vaduz can get past Sileks, they'll face the winner of FC Midtjylland from Denmark and FK Suduva from Lithuania. The first leg would be on 14 July; Vaduz would host the second game on 21 July. Hopp Vaduz!!
Vaduz with a convincing 3-0 win over FK Sileks from Macedonia in their Europa League First Qualifying Round match, which was also their first match of the year. Moreno Costanzo scored a pair while Simone Grippo added a third in stoppage time. If they win, they will take on the winner of Midtjylland and Suduva. Midtjylland won the first match in Denmark 1-0. HOPP VADUZ!!
Close, according to uefa, Vaduz won 3-1. Mickov scored in the 86th minute for Sileks. Hopefully an away goal is not enough to eliminate Vaduz.
