Nice one! I only got odds of 8-1 though. The bookies are starting to realise that Liechtenstein aren't 'no hopers' any more. That said, Alan Green on BBC Radio5 almost had convulsions when he mentioned they were 0-1 up.
15 November 2014 was a great day for Liechtenstein and Austria as they pick up well deserved 3 points. Liechtenstein will have to wait until June and another match with Moldova. Austria and Sweden won easily at Liechtenstein and Moldova. Montenegro - Russia was abandoned because of home side crowd issues. I suspect a 3-0 forfeit forthcoming, but should wait for uefa to announce. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/qualifiers/season=2016/matches/round=2000446/match=2013924/index.html Group G Results: 27 March 2015 Liechtenstein 0-5 Austria Russia Moldova 0-2 Sweden Montenegro 0-0 Russia (abandoned) Group G Teams P W D L F A +/- Pts 1 Austria 5 4 1 0 1 1 8 13 2 Sweden 5 2 3 0 1 1 4 9 3 Russia 4 1 2 1 4 0 3 5 4 Montenegro 4 1 2 1 2 0 1 5 5 Liechtenstein 5 1 1 3 0 4 -10 4 6 Moldova 5 0 1 4 0 2 -6 1
FC Vaduz won Liechtensteiner Pokal: Vaduz 5-0 Triesenberg http://de.uefa.com/memberassociations/association=lie/domesticcup/index.html FC Vaduz will play in the first Qualifying Round. The draw will be 22 June, and games to be played 2 and 9 July.
Vaduz had a good draw last year, getting College Europa. They nearly got past Ruch Chorzow in the second round. I'm hoping that they get a favorable draw again this time around. I know they don't care much about the Europa League, but it would be nice to see them go past the second round.
Here's the Liechtenstein's roster for the Switzerland and the qualifier against Moldova GOALKEEPERS Peter JEHLE Cengiz BICER Benjamin BUCHEL DEFENDERS Franz BURGMEIER Yves OEHRI Daniel KAUFMANN Sandro WIESER Daniel BRAENDLE Andreas MALIN MIDFIELDERS Marcel BUECHEL Michele POLVERINO Nicolas HASLER Andreas CHRISTEN Seyhan YILDIZ Robin GUBSER Dennis SALANOVIC Sandro WOLFINGER Armando HEEB Mathias SELE FORWARDS Mario FRICK Philippe ERNE Simon KUEHNE Niklas KIEBER Malin and Sele are receiving their first caps. With a win over Moldova and a Montenegro loss or draw away to Sweden, Liechtenstein can move up to 4 place. If Austria can topple Russia in Moscow, they would be one point out of the playoff spot. Sure, it's probably not going to happen, but it's fun to think about. HOPP LIECHTENSTEIN!!
Liechtenstein had many opportunities to win the game against Moldova, but just couldn't capitalize, especially on the wide open header from the corner in the second half. On the other hand, a tremendous effort from Peter Jehle and the defense helped them to a 1-1 draw. Out of all that came the best goal of the whole weekend by Sandro Weiser. Seriously, what a shot and an amazing goal. HOPP LIECHTENSTEIN!!

Vaduz gets a favorable draw in the Europa League. They'll face La Fiorita, who finished 3rd in the Sammarinese league. La Fiorita has never scored a goal in European competition, having been outscored 18-0 in the past three European seasons. La Fiorita will host the first leg on July 2, while Vaduz will host the second leg on July 9. If Vaduz can get past La Fiorita, they'll face the winner of Aktobe from Kazakhstan and Nomme Kalju from Estonia. Vaduz would host the first game on July 16. Hopp Vaduz!!
Vaduz advances over La Fiorita 5-1 in the second leg, and 10-1 on aggregate. 10 goals is the most goals that Vaduz has scored in one European season, eclipsing their previous total of 5, which they scored in the first leg. Before that, the largest margin of victory over two legs that they advanced with was 4, when they beat College Europa from Gibraltar last year 4-0 on aggregate. Vaduz got 10 goals from 8 different scorers (Pascal Schurpf scored in each game, and newcomer Robin Kamber scored twice in the return leg). Up next for Vaduz is Estonian club Nomme Kalju, who upset Aktobe of Kazakhstan 1-0 over two legs. I call it an upset because Aktobe outshout Nomme 59-17 (!!) and 17-6 in shots on target over two legs. Aktobe dominated Nomme in the second leg so much that it's somewhat unbelievable that they didn't score to go through. Little is known about the club from Estonia, but it's a shorter trip than Kazakhstan would've been for Vaduz. The home leg for Vaduz is next Thursday the 16th (and I get to go since I'll be in Switzerland for work!), with the return leg the following Thursday the 23rd. This looks like a terrific opportunity for Vaduz to advance. HOPP VADUZ!!!
This game was so much fun. It surpassed my expectations that some of these teams don't care about Europa League qualifying matches and it would be a slog. It wasn't. So much fun and entertainment. A couple of photos from last night's game below... I have video of Markus Neumayr's free kick goal, but I have to find a way to post.
If Vaduz advances, they will either face Hapoel Be'er Sheva or FC Thun in the third round. Right now, Thun hold the advantage after a 1-1 draw in Israel. If Vaduz faces Thun, it will be the second time that they've faced a Swiss opponent. The first time being against Basel in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup in 2006. That year, Vaduz lost out on away goals. If Vaduz face Hapoel, it would be the second time they've faced an Israeli club, the last time being 4 years ago when they lost out to Hapoel Tel Aviv in the third qualifying round. If Vaduz hold on to win this round, it would mark the first time ever that the club has won two rounds.
I will be pulling for them to advance, then I think that I will pull for Thun. Got to get the UEFA coefficient up!
A good result for Vaduz against Thun - scoreless game in Thun. The return leg in Vaduz is next Thursday, 6 August.
A good result indeed, but now they need to win at home. If Thun can get that away goal, it could spell a lot of trouble for Vaduz.
Vaduz draws 2-2 at home with Thun to lose the tie on away goals. Two draws in the third round is an excellent showing! Wait till next year!
Poor Vaduz. Eliminated without losing a single match. I know some people like the away goals rule, but I hate it.
