why play 2 volantes if you are going to be complete butter on the counter abel....... That save by Diego was special.
not even trying to be crazy but that was one of gabigols best performances before the red. created 3 or 4 chances, really the only threat on both wings. i know bh , and arao will take a lot of heat but rene is garbage... was going to write this even before he got did on the goal. para was also terrible.
Didn't even see this thread. Palmeiras with only one loss and partly due to an undermanned squad; this team is at the very least a quarterfinalist. But it has to start coming back from behind; the recent track record when the opponent scores first isn't good. I see them potentially in the semifinals. Athletico Paranaense the storybook team of the this Libertadores. It'd be great if they won it all. It remains to be seen how well it will do once the mata-mata starts. Botafogo's Copa dreams died at the hands of Grêmio back in 2017; Athletico Paranaense needs to take advantage of this chance because they don't come often. Cruzeiro seems to have improved from its 2018 version. A bit more boldness and I believe Cruzeiro would have defeated Boca Juniors in the 2018 quarterfinals. 4 wins in 4 games is excellent, but that also happened back in 2011. A favorite for the title. Grêmio finally woke up. Not sure if they'll advance; they need to defeat Libertad in Paraguay. Even if they do advance, I have a feeling this is the last stage of the Renato Gaúcho era for this team in Libertadores play. If/when Everton is sold to a European team, Grêmio will need to do some rebuilding. Flamengo... the Rio de Janeiro team I've liked since 1981 has a great roster but it keeps falling short every year. Atlético Mineiro will perform a miracle if it advances. It must win both remaining games while Nacional must lose both, and Atlético Mineiro must overcome what is at the moment a 6-goal differential between itself and the Uruguayan team. Internacional: I've never had such little faith in an unbeaten team 4 rounds into the Libertadores group stage. They need to work on that defense, and their older players (D'Alessandro) just don't have the gas to keep up with young opponents. I can't see Internacional going too far - the quarterfinals would be an accomplishment.
Fla is set up to choke qualifying out of the group. They play LDU and Penarol on the road. They could clinch with a draw vs LDU, but I am not banking on that. If they lose the next two games which is likely, LDU just needs to beat San Jose at home to qualify.
That was a shiity performance . Probably going to lose to penarol , unless you buy that 18 year old they have. I see them getting a draw against ldu tho.
On paper, I could see a draw vs LDU, but with Flamengo in the Liberatdores, crazy shit always happens. Stay tuned.
And you know I'm the biggest bruno henrique fan there is but the guy is struggling big time in the area. No1 is really talking about it because the drama with arascaeta. And i don't get playing 2 volantes if they can't even cover when the fullbacks are beat.
Even with all that being said gabigol will probably carry them through. This is the best form I've ever seen him in. What's the deal with you losing him in july?? Maybe i read the article wrong . He knocked in like 20 for Santos last year and no european offers, plays for flamengo now every club wants him...
Arao is the weak link there because he doesn't even mark that well. He just wants to make runs into the box. For Abel's system to work, he needs a real workhorse type (like Kante style) volante. Cueller can mark, but it's not enough. Everton Ribeiro and BH aren't going to give the workrate you need on the wings defensively. Diego is a big 0 when it comes to defensive work.
The loan goes till December, but Inter can recall him and I guess sell him prior to that. Inter has to pay Flamengo a fee if they do that.
